I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern. It’s called evermore. To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in. I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning. I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales. I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives. So I just kept writing them. And I loved creating these songs with Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, WB, and Justin Vernon. We’ve also welcomed some new (and longtime) friends to our musical kitchen table this time around…

(Español abajo⬇️) 30. A book by your favourite author: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz "Diablo! If only I'd known. The beauty! The beauty!" The Dominican American author published this novel in 2007 and I read it as a compulsory reading for uni. I really liked the style of the author and it really really is a great novel, with letters, different narrators, flashbacks and flashforwards, so very rich but not confusing. The ending is what the title suggests Oscar's life doesn't last long , but wow the ending! A curious detail is that it has many footnotes to explain history details about the dictator Trujillo and his regime. It is also very truthful bc it uses both Spanish and English, being the characters bilingual, it is what makes sense. But this novel has also magical elements: there's a curse... P.S. When I bought it, the seller told me it was Antonio Bandera's favourite book 👀 Do you usually read in Spanish? . . ➡️ 30. Libro con un gran desenlace: La maravillosa vida breve de Óscar Wao de Junot Díaz «Diablo! If only I'd known. The beauty! The beauty!» El autor dominicano-estadounidense publicó está novela en 2007 y yo la leí como lectura obligatoria de la uni. Me gustó mucho el estilo del autor y de verdad que es una gran novela, con cartas, distintos narradores, flashbacks y flashforwards, muy rica pero no confusa. El final es lo que el título sugiere, la vida de Oscar no dura mucho, pero ¡qué final! Un detalle curioso es que hay muchas notas a pie de página para explicar detalles históricos sobre el dictador Trujillo y su régimen. También es realista porque se usa español e inglés y siendo los personaje bilingüe, es lo que tiene sentido. Pero esta novela tiene también elementos mágicos: hay una maldición... P.D. This synopsis may not seem the most attractive but I can assure you that it is very entertaining and deep and it is written in a wonderful way. I've had to read it several times for high school and university and I enjoyed it enormously even it was a compulsory reading. Which is your favourite classic?
