Sorrow of being. Doubt of becoming

I’ve had a chance to feel not-completely-helpless by spreading the fundraising link. Some people I know IRL are in a position to give three-figure donations. so the total amount will be fairly significant. 

On Facebook I accompanied the post with a charming heads-together selfie of me and nexus from December, to catch the scroller’s eye. We did not take a bunch of photos in the expectation that they would be useful for a charity appeal. This month we were supposed to be going on a road trip to Mariupol and visiting S, not raising money to help S and many others deal with being bombed out or worse.

Well. Here we are. Nexus is answering emails while on air-raid-watch duty for her little commune, and I am a thousand miles away extracting money from former colleagues.

For centuries Loki has waged a battle with himself. But when he returns from the dead gaunt and hollow-eyed, raving about conquering Midguard, Thor realises that another, more sinister force has taken control.

This fic is set during the scene on the mountaintop in The Avengers, diverging from canon partway through. It’s a fix-it in that Thor actually listens to Loki and shows him a bit of kindness (eventually).
