i love having my expectations subverted because i had in my head that Alfred would be the popular twin when i was making him

That account is using AI to generate a bunch of sprites with different styles, please don't engage with them 😭🙏 don't give them the time of day, just block the account! It's better to not give them any attention, if their posts don't get engagement they'll probably stop.

And in case you’re wondering why or how people suspected A.I. usage:

1. The account in question started posting yesterday and, over the course of about 13 hours, made 16 posts with a total of 31 full-body sprite “edits”. That is insanely high output that no human would be capable of.

2. If you check the times when the posts went live, they are often bunched together. In some cases, they are literally a few minutes, even a SINGLE minute apart from the previous post. Now to be fair, Tumblr does have a queue function which allows you to schedule posts to go up automatically at a certain date and time. However, this would mean that the user prepared 31 edits in advance and intentionally planned to drop them this way, which is very strange.

3. This by itself isn’t an indicator, but it’s also a little ??? that the “artist” doesn’t say anything about their “creations”. A lot of creatives LOVE to talk about what they’ve made, whether it’s their creative process, plugging their other socials, or briefly commenting on their final piece.

4. If you’re on Tumblr Mobile and try searching the blog in question, the recommended tags that populate the blog include #ai art and #ai generated. These tags are designated by the blog owner, so they are aware of what they’re doing but purposefully are NOT tagging their “edits” as A.I. products.

5. Most of the “edits” look fine at a quick glance, but look at them for a second longer and you’ll find mistakes that no artist that supposedly renders at this level would make.

For example, giving a character 4 or 6 fingers…

… having whole hands faze through fabric…

… adding random unexplained blobs of solid color or “glow” effects…

… missing very crucial identifiable details about the characters (such as Lilia’s hair flaps or Leona’s scar; it looks like the scar got dragged down and/or confused for his bangs)…

… or, most infamously, merging two boots into a single monstrous one 😭

I really like your art style for Twst sprites! and do you have any tips on how to draw it?

I will try my best to explain!!

First i recommend using an existing character sprite as your base, use one that has similar features to your oc.It’s gonna be easier for masculine ocs likely some there are more preexisting male characters.

- You can get transparent sprites from the wiki or there are plenty of wonderful tumblr accounts who archived every sprite in game

If one isn’t really close enough than chose one that’s closest to your oc’s height so you can keep proportions accurate. Yui is 5’3-5’4 so I used Riddle and Epel as height comparison.

I like to focus heavily on eye shape since the first thing you really look at on a character is the face.

For more feminine lash references look at characters like Neige, Riddle, Lilia and Epel. Most of the other cast has smaller more angular eyes. Not many how downward slanted eyes but their are a few like Floyd, Ruggie, Cater and Vargas you can use as reference.

For body types is a bit more of a pain. Most characters are male and very lean/fit. So if you have a more feminine build or has more meat on their bones it might be a little difficult. All I can advise is to have another character sprite next to the one you’re working on and make use of the liquify tool for adjustments.

Loretta and Yui body types I had to mostly make from scratch.

For clothes if your OC wears the uniform in a standard was then it’s pretty easy to copy and paste it over.

You can do small tweaks fairly easily but sorta mix and matching.

For Yui her collar I took from Ruggie and her tie from Lilia

It can help portray personality (or how they want to be perceived) through how they wear their uniform. Yui’s collar being more casually buttoned and the toe worn as a bow because of her fondness for cuteness.

For more unique clothing pieces look at event outfits for reference. I find the lounge wear sprites to be especially helpful because they aren’t too cluttered design wise but still have a variety.

I say that hair is the most difficult thing really if you want a more step by step tutorial I can work on that in the future but a few tips I can offer are

- sometimes characters have an ombré (mostly blue) sort of shading at the bottom of their hair.

- the highlights are more angular. Diamond and triangle shaped.

- you can find spreadsheets online of sprites broken down. I find them incredibly helpful for mix and matching hair peices.
