Thursday, June 27th: I’m literally in tears at my entire life right now and I’m just so unbelievably tired of everything…

Hello everyone, I’m Gemma and I am quite sure that everyone is beyond tired of seeing my posts by now, and I sincerely apologize to be asking for help again and again but I have exhausted all my options and I desperately need help. 

As most of you are aware, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefits (U.C & Housing Benefit) being revoked, under the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And due to my mental health and some unfortunate DWP mess-ups, my benefits have been on and off sanctions for over a year now and I am currently waiting for the DWP to send me for a medical assessment, which I am hoping will fix my benefits and offer me more assistance as I am unable to work due to my persistent low mood and fatigue.

However, the process and paperwork for a medical can take weeks and often months to go through (I have been waiting since January). And due to immense stress and anxiety to make ends meet, my mental health has quickly declined. To make matters worse, a few weeks ago my unemployment advisor, who is consistently mishandling and misplacing my medical sicknotes, lost my medical lines and due to this, further sanctions have been temporarily placed on my benefit. Which means the £128.88 I used to receive on a monthly basis has been put on hold until the issues can be resolved, I was due payment on the 25th when this letter was sent but due to the sanctions, I did not and won’t receive welfare until the end of July. 

These past few months have been absolute hell for me, and with no income, I’ve been relying on the kindness of others to get by. However, due to quite a lot of overdue bills, chargebacks and late fees, it’s been difficult to stay out of debt. On top of this rent, I have another £200 worth of bills to pay (utilities, phone bill, and tax) so in all, I need £450.89.

If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate or buy anything off my wishlist if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling.

Others are actually young witch babies.

Since witches have no womb and are a byproduct of wild magic, whenever a witch wishes for a child they might one day find a young animal lingering around the house, much like receiving a familiar. An easy way to tell the difference between a youngling and a familiar, however, is that once bonded a familiar will soon begin speaking thereafter. Younglings will not develop speech until much later in their development.

The 2 year mark is when familiar and youngling dimorphism begins. While familiars will simply grow into an adult animal, younglings will enter into a “troll” stage, in which they will develop traits that separate them from ordinary creatures but do not yet resemble a human. It is towards the end of this stage that they will begin saying words, and simple sentences. Minor jinx magic is to be expected.

The “troll” stage will last for ~5 years, and the next stage can happen anytime within the next 3-6 following years. They will encounter a sudden “growth spurt,” where they will suddenly come into distinctly human shapes, while still retaining vestigial traits from their troll years. This transformation can happen overnight, or take over a year to complete. They can begin practicing simple spell magic at this point.

While some claim that the animal a youngling starts off as influences how they look as an adult, that’s largely been debunked. Witch children actually tend to generally resemble their parent(s).

Because names are of great importance to witches, some traditional households will follow the custom of waiting for the youngling to arrive at speaking age to let them choose their own name. Until then, often they refer to the child as their animal: Kitty, Crow, Frog etc.
