His eyes burned into mine.
"You ditched me for this? Seriously?"
Pedri sighed before rolling out of the carpet. "You really need some anger management classes, you know that?", He stated, dusting himself, "You can't just go around knocking people for having a life outside you"
"Yeah, leaving the paparazzi on your best friend's tail is exactly what your outside life is, right?", Gavi replied sarcastically.
"Come on now, you know I couldn't just leave her alone after....after what happened"
Gavi rolled his eyes, plopping down on the bed.
"They barged into my room 15 minutes after you left. The groupies...journalists.."
The monotony in his tone told me he was disappointed. Pedri could sense it too.
"I didn't mean to do it", He said, sitting beside his friend. "It was a spur of the moment thing. We saw the groupies looking for me when we were returning from the cafeteria. She was with me, and you know how the media is...with the half info they had, they'd have written all sorts of baseless crap if they saw me with her right after you and her were uh...spotted together. Come on, forgive me, I'm sorry".
Gavi sighed heavily. "Get me pizza and maybe then I'll think about it"
"You can order it yourself", Pedri stated, sounding like a strict father. "Who said anything about ordering it? I want you to go to the restaurant by foot, order it, have it made fresh, wait for it and bring it to me". "You got me fucked up if you think I'll actually do it", Pedri snarled, knowing he'd be tailed by the public and media like hungry cats after a fat rat. "Maybe you'll have to deal with me being like this for the rest of the year then", Gavi answered flatly. They were bickering like little boys and it was adorable to say the least. Pedri's eyes grew a hue darker whenever Gavi pulled his leg or said something even the slightest bit upsetting for their friendship.
"I just hope you know I hate you more than I hate Satan, as of right now", Pedri spat, taking out a hoodie and mask from the closet, "Let's go Evie".
Pedri and I turned to see Gavi sitting up. "No, she's coming with me, she's not safe with you alone-"
The tension was rising between the guys.
"Why's she not safe with me, Pedri?". Gavi's words were piercing through his friend like sharp hot needles. "It's not like the paps will barge into a private room in a high end hotel with one of the best securities in the country, will they?", He teased, cocking his eyebrows, "Or is it something else you're worried about?"
"What're you talking about", Pedri uttered.
"Do you like this thing, Pedro?", Gavi asked. He was literally demeaning me down to a 'thing'.
I'm better than giving this piece of crap, the time of my day, I told myself.
"Shut up", Pedri said, before walking out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
The silence in the room that followed his departure physically hurt me. I was standing awkwardly by the bed, while Gavi plopped back on it, closing his eyes, shutting me out. I quietly padded to the divan, trying not to take notice of pair of eyes that were following me ; burning into my back.
"Are you deaf or something?"
I turned around. The jerk was sitting up, his hand running through his hair. If I wasn't so pissed, I would've melted down to a puddle.
" You need to STOP being such a pain the ass!! ", I shouted, feeling the blood course through my veins. "I don't understand how you can be so cruel! You hurt your best friend, you're rude to me for absolutely no reason at all, when you don't even know me!! Sure, we didn't have the best first meeting, but that doesn't give you the right to act like an entitled prick!!"
Gavi sat listening to me, staring straight at me and never wavering for a second. The relief I'd felt after I was done with my little speech vanished when I got over the adrenaline rush, and was met with silence and a deathly stare from a man who held the power to literally murder me, if he wanted.
"Come here", He said calmly. I nervously looked for any sign of animosity in his eyes; None. He seemed safe. I walked over to him till I stood right before him. He looked up.
"What do you want from him?"
"What do you want from Pedri? Money's not an issue, just get away from him"
"You can drop the act, I know girls like you and your trope. I don't want Pedri to get close to you, only for you to baby trap him or something for the bag. This not only harms him but also you; the media will never let you live it down", He stated, showing me an article in his phone.
"Mysterious girl spotted with Pedri, moments after being caught in a lip lock with another Barca star, Pablo Gavi"
I stood there horrified. My bones tingled with disgust and shame. Was this how people looked at me? He looked at me?
But it would seem that way to anyone, especially with the pictures. Even me.
The tears threatened to spill over as I composed myself. "I'm sorry but I'm not a gold digger and the thing between me and you was an accident, you know it so do I", I stated, trying my best to swallow the lump in my throat.
"Then why're you with him?"
"What do you mean 'with him' ", I hissed.
"You like him, do you not?"
"Which girl won't? He's an angel compared to you, ", I said, before feeling bad and adding, "And most guys out there". For some strange reason, I still couldn't bring myself to hurt him the way he'd hurt me with his words. Maybe it was because of the kiss.
Mandy had always made it clear that if a kiss changed how you felt towards a guy, in the most drastic way, it meant that it was the kiss had sealed you two as soulmates. But that was one of her many made-up theories and her words couldn't be trusted, especially after she'd gone cuckoo since meeting Kaden.
"So you like him", He said, in a questioning tone, lowering his head.
"Well..yeah, but as a friend", I said softly, "I don't want anything from him, and I'm not interested in him romantically, Martin". Hearing his middle name, he looked up, as though it was a trigger which helped him understand better.Â
"No, and trust me, with how things are going, I know he's way out of my league. He's a sweet person and a fun friend to have, but it doesn't mean I'm into him in that way"
The words seemed to be taking effect..before he suddenly stood up. "I see the way you look at him though...you smile when he smiles and you blush whenever he looks at you". Instead of sounding like a concerned friend, he'd begun to sound like a jealous ex. "You're not jealous are you?", I blurted out, letting my intrusive thoughts get the better of me.
"Jealous? Don't flatter yourself", He chortled, though his face was turning bright pink as he tried to feign irritation by turning his face away.
"You're not blushing, are you?", I asked, touching his face lightly. He suddenly jerked, wanting to get away from me, but tripping and falling on the bed while pulling my hand for help, instead. Time froze when his eyes met mine. He lay still, like he was under a spell. His breathing grew heavier by the minute while my body burned under his touch, as he carelessly let his hand wander around my body.
He finally rested it on my waist and I buried my head into his chest in embarrassment.
I wasn't the girl with the best figure and my somewhat odd body, had always made me feel ashamed.
"Why're you acting so shy"
"Because", I mumbled, my face red with humiliation.
"Because?", He persisted.
"Hey", He said softly, lifting my face by my chin to settle it on his chest. "Don't ever say that about your body again, okay?"
Why was he being so sweet?
"You have the most beautiful body in the world..for me", He whispered.
I reached out, caressing his face.
It felt right. He felt right. Unlike any guy I'd ever had a situation ship with. But were we in a situation ship? What was it between us?
"You know I could take you right now, right?"
I hid my face in his chest again. Then nodded lightly.
What are you doing??! Come back to your senses!! My conscience yelled; but her words fell on deaf ears.
He sat up and I immediately crossed my legs around his waist. He grabbed my hips and stood up, laying me down on the bed. "I don't want you to regret this", He growled. I looked straight at him, though second thoughts had begun clouding me. Taking my silence for a yes, after everything that had led us to our current situation, he leaned in.
His cold lips contrasted my hot ones as he slowly opened my mouth with his tongue, while his fingertips traced my skin. I pressed my shaking hand against his chest to stabilize myself, my head feeling dizzy. He pulled away momentarily to allow himself and me to breathe before rushing right back in, letting his hands go places I'd never been.
A soft moan escaped my lips. "Fuck", He whispered, kissing me harder now, reaching for my bra clasp. Another moan escaped when I felt his hard member press against my pelvis; it didn't help that I was already about to faint from the kissing, with our tongues colliding and giving just the right amount of pressure and pleasure to turn any sane person crazy with the desire for more.
