Anyway the main idea for the Zelda au is that Link is a lifesize windup doll construct that Zelda made and gave magical sentience to. Not as like, a replacement for the hero or whatever (although he does end up with the triforce,) she was just lonely and there's so much work and Impa is getting older and she doesn't have as much time as she used to and she could just really use the company and the help etc etc. Over the course of whatever the plot is he would slowly develop a personality and have an emotional journey Fi style (s/o to my girl Fi they can never make me hate you.) Other small facts include flute as the magical instrument of choice (a normal one this time,) Zelda is named after her mother, and I'm giving gorons little tails + color variations + mineral/gem deposits in their stone armor because I can. They have dodongo traits now

How could I forget to mention that Link is mute on account of being a doll so he communicates through HSL (Hylian sign language.) Also I think it would be cool if he could wade through lava phantom Zelda style on account of being a magical construct. Like. Picturing he and Zelda very nicely removing his clothes so they don't get burned to fucking cinders and like. Setting them down in a neat little folded pile while he just casually starts walking through lava to go get some dungeon item
