๐๐๐ซ๐ฑ๐ #InLoveWithTheCoco. Yes! Yes! Yes! A thousand times over, yes! I was literally ecstatic reading this article this morning. The only reason why I have refused to watch the Victoria's Secret fashion show has been because they have never proudly showcased a woman of color with natural, non-relaxed, non-chemical or heat treated hair. Their last fashion show showed a change of mindset as Angolan model, Maria Borges, strutted her stuff in her own flawlessly gorgeous hair grown naturally from her head. I appreciate her bravery in doing so because I can understand the asinine and ridiculous pressures and standards of beauty held above the heads of black women across the world, especially in America. You're beautifully and perfectly crafted as you are. There's no need to Ever feel that you aren't. ::P.S.:: To all my black women and girls with chemically treated, synthetic/ purchased hair, it's okay. I get it. It's your hair on head, do whatever you please and wear it however you'd like. You have the right and freedom to do so. If relaxers and weaves make you happy, be happy with your relaxed weave. The only thing I cannot and will not stand to see is a black woman or girl who doesn't see herself as beautiful WITHOUT her hair being processed or with added extensions. A black woman or girl whose standard of beauty is based off of features that she doesn't naturally display. A black woman or girl who refuses to face the world or loved ones because she doesn't feel pretty enough or that she will be accepted for who she is with her natural hair. That is why, at one of the world's leading runway modeling events, this event was so impactful.
