For anyone who is even willing to consider it, I want to explain something that seems a consistent point of contention:
Black Americans don't literally think ppl from LATAM use gringo as a replacement for n*****. We're not that stupid. The insistence that we are is...not compelling.
We are given the uncanny sense that the usage and aggression with which it is used peaks selectively when aimed at us.
We are given the distinct impression that while no one admits this, the fact that racism is global and quite an issue worldwide and thus also in South and Central America means that any non-Black person interacting with a Black American inherently, instinctively senses that they are dealing with someone who is socially disadvantaged, and thus attacks them somewhat more for this, knowing there is no particular likelihood of pushback.
Which of course means they know the very reason the refusal to validate racial differences in the US makes no sense-- Black people in the US are still an oppressed class.
So making fun of Black ppl here for getting offended by excessive use of gringo when we are like the main group of ppl that get called slurs in our OWN country, to the point that those slurs are in literature, music, kids cartoons etc from not even that long ago, doesn't actually hit like you think it's hitting. Especially coming from ppl lighter than us. Especially when any attempts we make to explain anything are just met with flat out insults. We're already familiar with that. You're not accomplishing anything.
I will never say Black USAmericans aren't part of the Imperial Core, but they are also the Imperial Core's first and most consistent fucking targets. The only reason most of us are even here is because our Ancestors were dragged over here to be beaten and killed on their plantations.
Y'all are out of your fucking minds if you think that doesn't mean anything.
"Oh well they're still colonizers with US passports and privilege!"
Black USAmericans are killed daily in the US for nothing with no justice, are selectively refused for work, and are economically disadvantaged so much that there were laws against letting us have banking rights, property and thus forever hampered our ability to form generational wealth. We don't have accessible medical care, most of us do not have a 'family home' no matter how small, and to this day we are fighting for the right to be considered human. Sadly, I'd wager a majority of Black Americans don't have an up to date passport, and don't travel internationally hardly ever.
Black ppl are busy trying to form community collectives to make sure they have access to fruit and veg bc real estate redlining makes it so good grocery stores don't get put in majority Black neighborhoods.
Y'all know the American dream is dead. It can't be used to prop up the image of the super prosperous American forever, especially when Black ppl were strategically and legally kept out of it, and especially when Black people have repeatedly formed political movements to try and thwart the govt and are why people of the global majority living in the US have most of the rights and social mobility they have-- because WE fought for all of us.
It's totally fine to hate on the United States-- WE fucking hate it. Say whatever you want to say, that genuinely doesn't bother anyone. But one-to-one REFUSING the acknowledge there are distinct differences between Black USAmericans and white ones is just pure foolishness.
If you don't want to talk to ANY USAmericans, that's totally fine. I actually agree that the oppressed have no obligation to offer kindness or comfort to their oppressors.
AND...The CIA loves it when Latinos and Blacks don't get along.
So like I said this is for the people who WANT to read the clarification.
If you do not, and you don't fuck w anyone from the US like that, then keep it pushing.
