[ 2:46 AM ] with darkness and loneliness starting to creep you out, you already knew what it means. outside was silvered and transformed by the moonlight which is displayed like a luminous pearl in flourescent darkness. even though you feared the dark, the moon on its full size was your favorite thing to watch. you just love how it shined across your eyes despite the sea of stars in the pitch black sky. and the thought came that you wouldnโt trade any other moments with this: you casually sitting in your balcony, eyes darted upwards dreaming of countless impossible things. oh how you loved this moment.
not until you meet taeil, the epitome of luminous pearl in flourescent darkness. you were best of friends. he never failed to lighten up your mood whenever something bad happens to you. and when youโre with him, you always feel like you got the moon smiling right in front of you. you no longer have to look up in the sky. you no longer have to deal with loneliness at night. all because you have him. you grew fondly of him and that moment on, you knew that if you ever lose him, you might fear the dark harder than ever. you knew time was running too and thatโs when you decided to tell him how you feel and not wanting any other days to do it but today, his special day.
you invited him to come over at your house later that night. youโve damn well prepared for this but the constant fear of being rejected bothered you the most. youโve never done this before but the thought of hearing him say the same excited you which brought you to where you are tonight. โtaeil! letโs go to the balcony, yeah?โ you suggested right after he placed his belongings on your table. โyah, let me breathe for a second, y/n. i just got here!โ he chuckled while sitting comfortably at your sofa. โcome on! itโs full moon tonight. we have to see it together plus itโs your day!โ you grabbed his arms pulling him up even though you knew it will do nothing. โyou sure you donโt want a treat from me? hmm, thatโs so unlikely of you, miss y/n.โ he asked you with a questioning look plastered on his face. oh taeil, youโre the only treat i like. you choked at your own thoughts. โcome on, letโs just go upstairs! i want that treat next time. just please.โ you looked at him with wide eyes and in the end, he sighed in defeat and just went with you. little did he know that you got everything set up earlier that day. from the candlelit dinner with the moonlight beaming just before your eyes, perfect birthday present for him indeed. โw-wow, you prepared all of these?โ he said with a shock expression evident on his face. he was fascinated by the set up, by you. he looked at you with loving eyes and muttered, โi love you, y/n. this is the best birthday gift i had so far.โ you always hear him say those three words but this time, you hope it was something deeper. more like something you always hoped for.

from that moment, you can clearly hear your heart shattering into pieces. you love him dearly and hoped that he will love you too in that way but you were wrong. he was your moon but to him, you are just one of the stars.
