I AM LONELY With my new baby in my arms. I am lonely without friends who can relate. With a toddler running around, I am lonely. Without family in the state I am lonely in a full house or in a crowd without someone who understands We all need companions and compassion, but most of all, we need comrades in action, who can relate to our own situation . CURE FOR A MOTHER'S LONELINESS I forced myself to go to a new mother's group at the hospital where I gave birth. To hear others going through this uncertainty, too, was so validating. I am no longer lonely. I made myself break through my anxiety to talk to a mom at the park, who told me about MOPS and Together in the Park mom groups. I began to attend and soon made friends. I am no longer lonely. I volunteered at my local parent resource center and found like minded moms. I asked those moms about a once a week playgroup and it was just what they had been needing as well. We were no longer lonely I moved and needed community, so I pushed out of my comfort zone and asked in a local FB group for moms who loved nature to join me for weekly hikes. It was just what some other moms had been needing, also. We are no longer lonely! . It takes time and courage, especially for introverts like myself, but push yourself to ask for a friend. Maybe the next mom is waiting for you to start the conversation or take a step toward beginning a group if you haven't found an established group that is a good fit for you, yet. .
