You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.

Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?

i don't understand people who are rude on purpose. i'm not saying that to be holier-than-thou i just genuinely don't get it

this post brought to you by my visit to the job centre this morning where i had an appointment with a woman who plainly hated the job centre and everyone in it (fair), and expressed this by being really unpleasant to all her clients. when someone is unpleasant to me i like to respond by being extra nice to them, and she clearly didn't know what to do with that because she kept trying to find new ways to be rude to me and i kept pretending i hadn't noticed. which seemed like a lot of effort on her part when it would probably have been easier to just be nice back

before i left i made a point of giving her a big toothy smile and telling her how helpful she'd been and she looked like she wanted to run me through with a greatsword. next time i should bring her a complimentary pastry to see if i can make her head explode

it's literally the evilest thing in the world to finally have time to write but then be tired. like wow you're telling me these two hours before going to bed are completely free but my brain is just Not Feeling It? fuck off
