Hi all! So, this past weekend was spent purging the studio of things and materials I don't use, reorganizing, and making the space more efficient for daily happenings. There's still a lot left to do but I have to focus on some more pressing matters...which can now be done on my super tidy desk!!! It hasn't been this clear since like July. This was my mood all week, and I wasn't even putting up lights! A little about this card: this was the second ever holiday card that I illustrated so many years ago in 2013. It's still one of my favourites and sums up how I think most people feel about putting up holiday lights. Happy Diwali!!! 🪔🪔🪔🎆🎇 Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, is celebrated by lighting little oil lamps called diyas to signify the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. It is also celebrated by creating rangoli on the ground using colored powders, rice, or flowers. In the second photo (1994), I think my mom and I used colored rice flour. Rangoli are created by hand at or by the entrance of the house and they bring good luck.
