Been thinking about Mike and Will getting married on impulse in 2021 because when they wanted to get married during their 20s, they couldn’t, and by the time it got decriminalised, they just didn’t care enough. They were basically married anyway. But on Will’s 50th birthday, he just looks at Mike, who cooked him an elaborate birthday dinner and goes “I want to be married to you.” And Mike (being Mike) immediately says “Let’s do it. Next week.” And the rest is history.

How in Jackie and Wilson he says “every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside” and “looking up from a cigarette she’s already left, start digging up the yard for what’s left of me and our little vignette, For whatever poor soul is coming next” because who he was before this person died and now he is trying to find who he used to be as well as what used to be of them. AND THEN. In Like Real People Do he says “why were you digging, what did you bury?” And then LATER says “I knew that look dear… was there in someone that dug long ago” referring to himself, “so I will not ask you why you were creeping, in some sad way I already know” BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN THERE BEFORE AND KNOWS HOW THEY FEEL BECAUSE HE DID IT IN JACKIE AND WILSON.

there were four seasons, there was heartbreak, there was fear and there was loss, but my overriding emotion was excitement. i felt like the over-riding thing the doctor brought was curiosity and excitement. obviously fear, rage and all those things, but the thing that encapsulated my doctor the most was that bouncing into things, and that really fed into my evening and my weekend and my year.
