My favorite part of youtube is the part of it that is middle-aged-to-old guys with zero production value who have made a simple, low-quality video on their phones about how to repair the exact fucking appliance that has been giving me grief so I can fix that fucker myself instead of spending hundreds of dollars to hire someone.

After the US killed Qasem Soleimani I remember there was an Iranian commentator who said that there was no comparison in terms of a figure who is such a national hero. They said "who would we even kill in return? SpongeBob? Spiderman?" The US only has fictional characters, and usually fictional characters that they are willfully misinterpreting, because their project is so fetid rotten and hideous all the way to the core.

It's so grimly comical that Trump and his clique are, at least rhetorically*, operating on Hollywood movie logic where "taking out the Big Bad" causes the "evil empire" to instantly crumble. But what's even more pathetic is how many ostensibly "reputable" and "neutral" Imperialist news outlets are exactly the same. Like I keep hearing news that casually refer to Maduro as a "deposed" president or talks about how diaspora reactionaries are celebrating his "removal". Which just completely contradicts the very obvious facts of the situation; Maduro hasn't been overthrown he's just been taken hostage. Like the PSUV is very much still in power, with Maduro's own Vice-President running things in his absence. The Venezuelan military is still intact and loyal while the Venezuelan people are probably more united against US Imperialism than ever before. It's so ridiculous to treat the raid on Caracas like some decisive victory when it was functionally just a high-budget terrorist attack
