Like this if you want a starter from Detective Nadia Decotis
Open starter
Nadia stepped out of the charger, her gun drawn as she made her way into the building. She had been the closest unit to the shots fired call and so she was the first on scene. "Dispatch this is 5044 Eddie, plainclothes on scene of the shots fired call " she announced over her radio as she stepped over broken glass, clearing rooms as she went.
Upon seeing movement she stopped in her tracks. "Chicago Police, show me your hands!" She called out pointing her service pistol at the individual. She had yet to figure out if this was a civilian or a subject so she was going to be cautious to begin with.
Alright guess who's back and with renewed energy to write Nadia?

It should have been a simple knock and talk get a reading on a suspect that Intelligence suspected knew someone who was behind a string of murders. Nadia, having been at the door knocked on the door before she had been blasted with a shotgun after which she had been rushed to Chicago Med and needing to go into surgery. After which she woke up finding herself in a medical bed. âUgh why am I in the hospital?â She asked after looking up to find Will Halstead. âI feel like Iâve been hit by a semi. So whatâs the prognosis doc am I gonna surviveâ She spoke, attempting a laugh but quickly stopped in pain.Â
âWell, hello there,â he said, lightly, smiling at her, âNice to see you awake.â he didnât really want to discuss how incredibly touch and go it had been for her. âYou took a hell of a shot, Iâm not going to lie,â he told her, tone gentle, pulling up a chair and sitting next to her, resting his arms on the bars next to the bed - holding his tablet loosely.
âWeâre doing everything we can for you.â he said, gently, âBut - youâre pretty hurt. Itâs going to be a good while before youâre up on your feet.â he said, shaking his head just a little, âLots of shrapnel had to be removed, but weâve patched you up.â
âI didnât even know I got shot, one second I was knocking the next I was on my back and going in and out of consciousness.â She admitted. with those words and the amount of pain she was in, she was sure she didnât want to see how extensive the bandages covered. Nadia looked over at the doctor.Â
It was good news to hear that she was patched up but it upset her that sheâd be out of commission for who knows how long. âWill, I canât do that I have to get back to the unit, find the guy that did this to me.â She protested weakly, though she knew that he was right in the long run, and he was only bringing her the news, not suggesting it. Nadia didnât even know if she could walk if he had wanted to at the current moment.Â
He nodded, with a soft frown, keeping his expression as neutral as he could whilst still offering her a little sympathy for what sheâd been through. It was hard, what they did. Jay was evidence enough of that, after all.
âThey hit you damn hard,â he commented, âIâm not surprised. It might take some time, you might gets bits of the event coming back or you might not get anything. Brains are fickle.â he explained. Sam was more knowledgable but his bedside manner - eh, something left to be desired. It wasnât something he was going to bring in here.
âIâm sorry, Nadia,â he kept his voice low, âBut itâs not going to happen like that. I know what your lot is like, but honestly - youâll do the world one better by focusing on getting healed up. Youâre lucky the damage isnât more extensive than it already is.â
I at least remember the guys face, thatâs a plus to a certain extent.â She told Will. âThough I do have to say it hurt a whole lot less than what youâd think being blasted with a shotgun would, though I hope you never have to find out doc.â She chuckled trying to joke with him.
With his response though she got back to being more serious. She didnât want to stay laid up in a hospital bed waiting to recover. âI guess youâre right, I am pretty bandaged up, so I donât think I could be much use anyways, but that doesnât mean I have to be happy about it.âÂ
âOkay, I get it.â he said, honest and gentle, âI would hate it, too. They do say Doctors make the worst patients, though.â he admitted, with a faint chuckle, shaking his head slightly. âWell, weâre going to do our best to get you sorted out as quick as we can.
"Grateful that I didnât have to get to feel that, not going to lie.â he added. âListen, Iâm going to go check up on a couple other people. Iâll definitely be back at some point, soon as I can.â
âYeah Iâve heard that before.â Nadia spoke, giving off a weak smile. it made her feel good knowing that they were there to help her.
âWell Iâll be here, canât really do much else.â She chuckled, looking around her room a bit while Will finished up her charts and everything. âI guess Iâll see you in a bit then.â She bid him before she watched him walk out of the door. After he had walked out Nadia tried getting comfortable in her hospital bed, and eventually managed to doze off despite not managing to get very comfortable. Soon she managed to wake up, groggily seeing the Will was once again at her charts, writing down the information.

âI donât think I want it shiny and new honestly.â She admitted with a shrug. Nadia put the chain back around her neck as she still grinned from how her life had changed so much for the better. âYou gave me a reason to work towards it. When you found me I was a underage and always looking for the next score. You are the one that pushed me to go to rehab, to actually change my life. You cared about me like the sister I never had.â Nadia told her, not wanting to get emotional about it.
âAww, I kinda liked my old desk, Iâll miss it.â She said with a slight laugh as she looked at her new desk. Right as she was about to start moving her things though Voight came up, and informed them they had a case after congratulating Nadia. âErin do I ride with you?â She inquired curiously.
âShiny and new puts a target on your back.â Erin said with a shrug of her shoulders as she looked at her watching as she pulled the chain back over her head. âYeah I might have but youâre the one who put in all the work here Nadia. Everything you accomplished that was all you.â She said smiling as she looked at her reaching out and squeezing her shoulder. âIâm proud of you.â She murmured softly as she looked at her grinning slightly. Leading her towards the desk she smiled slightly.Â
âWell you can always visit it if you really miss it so much.â She teased as she looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Standing up she looked at Voight smiling when he congratulated Nadia. âYeah youâre riding with me.â She nodded her head as she grabbed her jacket.Â
âI bet it does, and I donât think that I want that, I donât think any officer wants a bigger target on their back. Here in Intelligence we already have a bigger one than most officers.â She spoke, knowing that it was the truth. âYeah I guess youâre right Erin, but I do have to be humble and include you and Sergeant Platt.
âNah a new desk is fine the old one is a bit too small for the work that Iâm gonna be doing now.â She joked back to Erin with a grin. After Nadia thanked Voight she gave Erin another smile as she grabbed her own coat before the headed down the stairs. She was interested to find out what her first case was going to be as a newly minted cop, hopefully it wouldnât be too bad but then again she didnât have much hope for how it was relayed out.

âThank you, I know I can go to anyone in the unit. You all have taken care of me, helped me out when things got tough for me. Helping me with my police examsâŚ.â She trailed off, knowing full and well this had pushed her more for wanting to be a cop, to get guys like Yates off the streets. âAdam itâs not over yet, I have to face him in trial and Iâm gonna need all the help I can get when that time comes.â She admitted, knowing it was going to come sooner or later. Nadia liked hearing that she was considered part of the family, especially since she didnât really have much anymore, only her father.
Nadia wouldnât care if anyone thought differently of her for accepting hot chocolate. It was a nice warm drink and would allow her to take her mind off of all the madness that had gone on. Nadia watched as Adam prepared her drink, smiling as he brought it to her. âThank you so much looks delicious and you are a true gentleman. She commented, taking a sip from the steaming drink.
âAdam be honest with me, do you think after all Iâve been through do I deserve to be a cop? Like not just this but my past in general?â She inquired as her thoughts drifted to her future. âI donât just want to stay up here and answer phones all day I want to be up here and working on cases as a part of Intelligence.
âAnd you will have it. Weâll all be there, I promise. Before, during and after. Weâve got your back, Decotis.â He winked playfully and poured himself a cup of chocolate as well, then shook his head at being called gentleman. He laughed and sat back down. âOhh, donât say that⌠I wish I was, I do. And I try. But I think we all know Iâm a work in progress on that front.â
âThanks, though.â Ruzek took a sip of the drink, licking his lips and leaned back in the chair.
At her question, he tilted his head again as he often did and watched her for a moment or two, maybe causing her a bit of anxiety for being forced to wait for his answer. His honest answer. Eventually he gave her a genuine smile.
âYeah, I do. I think you deserve to be a cop because you have perfect qualities for the job, but also much because of what youâve been through. You have a lot of knowledge about things on the other side of the law, out of pure personal experience. Itâs bitter-sweet, and it sucks that you have been there and struggled, but⌠Honestly? Itâll be a great asset for you, too, I think.â He nodded.
âYou will do awesome as undercover, if youâd want to do those kind of jobs now and then. Requires a hell of a lot of self-discipline, though. But I know youâve got that, too. I wouldnât worry about it that much, if I were you.  â Youâll school those other recruits, Câmon.â At this, he reached out to give Nadia a gentle shove to her shoulder.
âYouâre Nadia Decotis. Basically Erinâs twin sister. Youâre a badass.â
âNah youâre a gentleman, you might still be trying to be the best gentleman but all it takes is an effort.â She chuckled, her figurative shell opening up slightly as she put her guard down for the first time since she had been rescued.
Nadia wouldnât have said that whatever his answer would have been was causing her anxiety as she waited for the response, she was full well prepared to hear whichever side of the answer that she would get. She immediately knew though with his smile what it was going to be before he even answered it though. Nadia listened as he explained that what she had been through would make her a good cop. She had never thought of it that way and for sure the CPD brass didnât know too much about her past, but it would still help her out on cases, though she could see it also hindering her on other cases.Â
Nadia took a sip of her hot chocolate before responding to Adam. âCareful, Iâm secretly joining the CPD to steal all the drugs for myself.â She chuckled, obviously joking before getting a bit more serious. â No I wanna do undercover work when I join. I might pick your brain about things at the Academy though if I do get accepted. Iâll only have the best whoâve taught me how to school the other recruits.â She joked, pushing him back with a laugh.
âIs the Academy ready for an Erin Lindsay number two though? Iâve heard her stories from the academy, since she found out about me wanting to join the CPD and becoming her roommate she hasnât stopped with the stories.â Nadia chuckled. Her mind was pushing back the events that had happened as she got up and started making her way towards her desk. She already had a lot of cards on her desk from a lot of the officers and staff at the station that had all been worried or at least had heard about her ordeal when she had been taken. and on top of everything was an envelope addressed to her from the Superintendent's Office. âAdam do you know how long this has been here?â She inquired, picking up the envelope and showing it to him.

âWell I havenât spent years on the job like you, or really anyone in Intelligence, Iâm sure Ruzekâs was just as shiny when he joined. Give me a day in the unit and itâll probably be scuffed and dullâ She joked as she handed it over to Erin. âI wouldnât be here if it wasnât for you. Pulling me off of the streets, helping me into rehab. âEverything youâve done, with the help of Sergeant Voight and Platt has gotten me here.â She smiled softly at Erin. âI um didnât know which pistol I should choose so I just went on a gut instinct.â She admitted, moving her jacket for Erin to see her gun.
As Nadia was pulled towards the other desks she felt like the new girl at school, though thats more so what she was she was despite having worked with them for a while. Nadia smiled as everyone congratulated her on passing everything and becoming a cop. âThe question is, do I get to keep my old desk or am I getting an upgrade? She chuckled, looking to Erin.
âYeah it wonât be nice and shiny and new for long but itâs still nice.â She teased as she looked at her with a cock of her head. âTake a toothbrush to it and you just might get it back to this shiny and new.â She teased as she looked at her badge and nodded her head slightly. Eyebrow raising she looked at her and nodded her head slightly. âYou did it yourself. All I did was give you something to work for. You did all of it yourself.â Erin said as she looked at her smiling slightly as she studied her. Looking at her gun when she moved her jacket she nodded slightly, âtake care of your gun and itâll take care of you.â
Erin grinned proudly as she brought Nadia around showing her off and showing off her shiny new badge. She looked at Nadia and cocked her head slightly. âYou get an upgrade.â She said pointing towards the other desk theyâd cleared off. âRight next to me.â She teased as she looked at her making her way back to her desk.
"I don't think I want it shiny and new honestly." She admitted with a shrug. Nadia put the chain back around her neck as she still grinned from how her life had changed so much for the better. Nadia stopped talking as he responded rather quickly. âSorry, I just assumed youâd be like everyone else, asking me how I am and trying to tell me Iâll be alright.â She said with a sigh, looking down to the ground. âIt all happened so fast, I just wanted to surprise Erin with a cake.â
Nadia watched Adam as he sat down next to her. She felt some sort of comfort by it. Sure she didnât interact with him too much but he was still a friend.
âThanks for sticking around, I really need someone. I thought I was gonna die, I gave you guys all those clues thinking Iâd die.âshe told him, looking back at him before letting out a chuckle at his words. It seemed so long ago that she had met the Intelligence team. "Hey listen Iâm sorry about that, I dont think I ever apologized for that.â She commented, giving him a genuine smile for a short moment at least. âIf Iâm gonna kick anyone in the balls itâll be Yates.â
The offer of hot chocolate was a kind gesture in her opinion. â I guess if youâre offering Adam.â She accepted with a nod.
âYeahâŚâ He nodded slowly. He couldnât say he understood how she felt and he was not going to say itâd be alright. Hopefully it would be, eventually, in a while, but he wasnât going to say it since she clearly didnât want to hear it.
âFor what itâs worth⌠Iâm sorry this happened to you.â He tapped his finger tips lightly on the table, watching her. âWe might not be best friends yet, but⌠just know Iâm here for you. Ok? Anytime. Whatever it is. Youâre part of this Unit. Weâre family, soâŚâ
Adam stretched his smile a bit wider before getting up from the chair and started preparing the hot chocolate for her. Warm drinks had a good tendency to ease the nerves. Keeping warm was important when being in shock. Coffee worked, probably but⌠Had it been him; then heâd preferred chocolate instead of caffeine. Maybe it was a bit childish but perhaps that was the whole point? Feeling a childish comfort in hot chocolate. Maybe he should whip some cream for it, too. Just to go that little extra mile. Too bad they donât have mini-marshmallows.
Why the Hell donât they have mini-marshmallows? They should. Heâs definitely buying some to stash there.
With a gentle dust of cocoa powder on the dollop of whipped cream, Adam called it done and presented it with a little bow. âBon AppĂŠtit.â
âThank you, I know I can go to anyone in the unit. You all have taken care of me, helped me out when things got tough for me. The pain wracked her body, after she had been transported to New York she didnât remember much she was knocked out for most of the time. Then she had to play dead, which was easy, seeing as she was basically dying already and she knew if she wasnât rescued then sheâd really be dead. Last she remembered was hearing sirens approaching before she blacked out. Now she stirred and as her eyes opened she saw Detective Benson standing by her bedside. âD-Did you guys get him?â She asked, attempting to push herself up and gather her surroundings. âI tried to fight back whenever I could. It was Yates.â She confirmed, not knowing if he had even been caught, he had left her long before she had been found, or so she thought anyways.
@xorganizingcrimex
âYates is in custody and being tried here in New York.â Olivia says. âIâm so glad we got to you in time. Sergeant Voight is here in New York. I called him as soon as we found you. He made the flight and heâs on his way to make sure youâre alright. We will NOt let that bastard get away with what heâs done. Our ADA is one of the best.â
âDoes he know that Iâm alive?â She asked, she hoped he didnât and she hoped that sheâd be given the opportunity to testify against him. âThank you so much Detective Iâm grateful, and I want to testify against this bastard.â She spoke, before looking down at her fingernails, still painted in the awful green color. He needs to pay for what he did.â
âWe have not told him that youâre alive. Voight and I both agreed that itâd be best if we didnât mention that. It will keep you much safer. We found out he has a little bit of reach outside of prison. Right now heâs been sent to Rikers under tight security and isolation. Amanda Rollins has been chatting with him. Iâm concerned sheâs getting too close to this case. Heâs getting into her head.â Benson stresses her concern.
âBut right now, I do not want you to worry about any of that. Your focus should be on your recovery and getting better. And when youâre strong enough we can get you to testify in court.â
âGood I want to see the surprise on his face when I show up in court. If only I had been accepted as a police officer already, then heâd have attempted murder of a cop as an added charge.â She spoke, her mind reeling. Nadia wasnât really worried about her healing process, in her mind she wasnât that injured. Iâll be strong enough when his trial comes around. Iâve been through worse in my life.â She said, though she hadnât ever actually been as close to death as she had just been . âHow long have I been out Detective?â
âCongratulations.â Benson says from the doorway. âIâm truly happy for you.â She smiles standing next to Erin and Voight. âI wonât keep you guys too much longer. Iâve gotta catch a flight back to New York in a few hours.â
âWeâll give you a lift.â Voight offers.
"Thank you detective, does that mean Yates is going to go away for longer, now that I'm a cop, doesn't that go up to attempted murder of an officer?" She inquired, knowing that would mean he would go for a longer duration in prison. "And will I still be able to testify against him, I'm ready and willing. I want justice done right before we get street justice." Nadia knew Voight would prefer doing justice his own way but she didn't want to bank on that as a first.

You know I can't ever get over the fact that Nadia wasn't ever planned to have been killed until they decided to have a SVU crossover and decided they needed to have something big happen, even then they didn't necessarily have to kill Nadia she could have lived. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
nadiaofcpdâ:
Nadia sat inside the break room, she was restless just sitting in one place. Who could blame her though only a couple hours ago she had almost been killed, only narrowly being saved. looking down to her hand she started picking and chipping the nail polish on them. She hated the color, she hated the fact it was there, only of the many, albeit temporary, reminders of what Yates had done. She was in the middle of doing this when she noticed Ruzek standing in the doorway.Â
âThe green is such an ugly shade, I hate it.â She commented, restlessly, looking up into his eyes, hers holding so much pain. Nadia knew that everyone here wanted to support her, she always just found it hard to ask for the help she needed. âBefore you ask, no everything isnât okay, I almost died.â She had been asked that s many times already and knew it would be asked probably a hundred more.
@intellizek
âI wasnât going to.â He told her, perhaps a bit too quickly after sheâd ended her sentence. But it was true. He hadnât planned to ask how she was doing, ask how she felt. It was quite obvious she was more than shaken and needed to do what she needed to do this shortly after the horrific hours sheâd been through not that long ago.
Ruzek bit his lip slightly, leaning against the door frame before pushing himself into the room and carefully taking a seat beside her. He placed the chair so that it was facing her directly and not the small round table. His elbows fell to rest on his lap as he let out a soft sigh. Afraid to cause the woman more stress, Adam didnât reach for her just yet as he was unsure if she rather be untouched at the moment.
âI just thought Iâd stick around for you, in case you need to kick someone in the balls. You know, to let some steam off. Turns out Iâm a great candidate for that.â Ruzek offered a little smile at this, tilting his head.
âHave you had something warm to drink? Hot Chocolate is actually one of my specialities.â
Nadia stopped talking as he responded rather quickly. "Sorry, I just assumed you'd be like everyone else, asking me how I am and trying to tell me I'll be alright." She said with a sigh, looking down to the ground. "It all happened so fast, I just wanted to surprise Erin with a cake."

"Thanks for sticking around, I really need someone. I thought I was gonna die, I gave you guys all those clues thinking I'd die."she told him, looking back at him before letting out a chuckle at his words. It seemed so long ago that she had met the Intelligence team. "Hey listen I'm sorry about that, I dont think I ever apologized for that." She commented, giving him a genuine smile for a short moment at least. "If I'm gonna kick anyone in the balls it'll be Yates."
The offer of hot chocolate was a kind gesture in her opinion. " I guess if you're offering Adam." She accepted with a nod.
