That's something people started saying because of that panel where Miruko joins the scene as Dabi tries to kill Endeavor and Hawks, and she points out that it smells of burnt flesh. And I think that quote was featured in the character book too.

And yes, whenever he uses his quirk he burns himself, and burning flesh is supposed to be a very awful smell but regardless, the fandom constantly making fun of Dabi's and Shigaraki's bodies is something that absolutely needs to stop. There is nothing funny or okay about mocking and shaming people's bodies, aka something out of their control.

Same for all those "Dabi without his scars, omg he's so pretty" shut up. You know, all these things about bodies that are supposedly ugly? They're not ugly. Bodies are bodies. Judge people's personality/attitude not something out of people's control like their body. Congrats, you've made someone insecure. Now what?

Aside from the fact it's never justified to make fun of people's bodies, we know that Shigaraki's and Dabi's bodies are a result of their trauma and anyone that thinks mocking that is okay? Yikes.

If you really think "haha look at this guy who smells horrible because his own quirk is killing him every time he uses it, how funny uwu~" then maybe stay off the internet. And I mean that. If you can't be respectful of others, keep your thoughts to yourself.

Example: I downloaded Friday the 13th because it’s free on psn. I dunno how to play, so I just enter quick play and I’m matched with 3-4 kids on mic. Immediately on mic they’re shitty and disparaging to each other. They laugh at each others deaths, they actively work against team mates and self sabotage, they call each other “fags”, etc. From the sounds of the voices they cannot be older than 13-14.

I put on my mic and just decide I ain’t havin it. I am nice. I thank them for barricading doors or leaving me items. When they break free from Jason’s grasp I say “good job!” or I try to help them. One kid survived for most of the match by himself. When he dies, I tell him he did a fantastic job.

The mood shift is practically INSTANT. These kids almost immediately stop being dick heads. They start encouraging each other and being kind. After the match all of them try to friend request me. Which should tell you a couple of things:

A) kids want to be kind, and they want to have a nice time playing games. But encounters with adults like me or so rare that they’ve trained themselves to instantly put on a toxic, shitty, defensive veneer when encountering any new person online. It’s literally just THAT EASY to not groom a horrible gaming community, it’s just that NO ONE does it.

B) the speed of which they all tried to friend me was cute, but paints for me such a sad picture? Like these kids are SO desperate to find people to play with who aren’t crappy jerks. They played with me for 10 minutes TOPS and all instantly tried to reach out to me.

if the author never responds to comments, comment still. Interaction with the author is a very nice bonus, but you can be sure that even if the author doesn’t answer, they will read it and enjoy it at some point

the author will give no flying fuck about any gramatical errors, typo or other misspellings. If you’re a non-native speaker struggling to express themselves, you can be sure the author will be all the more pleased that you surmounted the language barrier to let them know you appreciated their work. Don’t be afraid!

you will never, ever come across as creepy by obsessing over a fic or an author to the point where you worry the author might think you’re a stalker. On the contrary, the author will be delighted by your investment in their work.

say thank you. It’s always appreciated to see readers acknowledge the work and commitment that is put into writing.

the floaty review box (ao3 add-on) is your friend

be positive and encouraging. Positive reviews make writers all warm and glowy from the inside, bashing plunge their soul into icy darkness. You want the first, not the second!

whoever you are, if you read their fic, YOU are IMPORTANT to the author. Let them know you’re there!

i just got home and saw a message from a mutual i’ve never talked to, about a birthday gift. DONT CLICK ON THE LINK. i haven’t so i don’t know what it does, but i’ve heard it logs you out and sends you to a fake tumblr to take your information. it’s a hack. and it fucks up your computer/laptop/phone/device.

this is what the message looks like, and if you click the link, it sends it to every single one of your mutuals (or possibly ALL THE PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW YOU)

WHOEVER IS MAKING THESE VIRUSES, ARE MAKING NEW ONES THAT SEEM MORE REALISTIC. THEY ARENT USING CAPITALIZATION ANYMORE SO IT LOOKS MORE “REAL” BUT I SWEAR TO YOU ITS FALSE

These spam bots are really trying hard to spread this virus around. Let people know you got this message so they can be safe and change their password and run an anti-virus.
