herm remembers every small detail about his childhood. every day from his childhood is just saved in his thoughts like a constant reminder, and because of that he tends to experience flashbacks/nightmares of his childhood very, very often

while robert doesnt remember anything, or at least tries to make himself forget it. and he feels this constant guilt for trying to do it, which leads into him trying to do his best in life as mechaman, to continue what his father intended

but one thing they share is their bad sense of themselves. they both think they're bad, that they need to do better, they need to take care of everything to make up for the guilt and dread they feel from their childhood
