"My dad was a horse vet, so I got dragged along on calls with him a lot. And thats why, at a young age, I made the decision that there was no way I was gonna put up with a job where your patients shit on you.
Wound up becoming a paramedic, hated it, way too stressful, the hours were crazy, and they broke my no shitting rule.
Got certified as a phlebotomist, and did that for a while while going to nursing school. And now I'm here. And it's better.
I mean kind of obvious fit really, I mean, I do have powers.
Hm? Oh, the technical term is "hemokinesis," yknow, blood stuff. Yeah, I know right, a queer brown guy with blood powers? What is this, a 2edgy, poorly thought out 90s comic? Just my life. Its not even that strong, I cant do vampire shit OR creepy puppet master shit, its mostly just a party trick that comes with liability paperwork. (They added a slide to my annual BBP training that just says "DO NOT.") It does mean my blood draws are *mwah* beautiful though, minimal bruising, no misses, even on people with nasty little spidery veins.

And are those red marks gills??? You've made it look like it's painful for bro to breathe and personally I'm very into the whole "make your oc's have chronic pain" thing
I like the green thing because it's not actually clothing it's just the way his colors are but it LOOKS like clothing. Similar to (deep sea) barrel fish that like. Their nose looks like eyes and you think "Oh, what a cool little fish-" and then you go "WOAH !!! That's its nose!!"
I've gotta say that given the hair and the background he's probably a little closer to shore than a Ningyo should be so just remind him to not get caught and eated
But given those teeth he'd probably turn the tables real quick he'll be fine
And now that you've opened this can of worms i will be taking the opportunity to yap about my boy, because Reed's is a design I keep coming back to
Yes the red marks are gills! It is hard to draw gills that visually scan as gills and not just weird lines, but also! Reed CAN breathe air! Just ... not well... he gets all wheezy and has to flap his gills open far as they'll go for maximum oxygen
His design is partially modeled on a lancetfish. Which is ironic as he lacks the lancetfish's two most noticeable characteristics (ie: the prominent fang teeth and large sail dorsal fin) but his face (mainly eyes) and general body shape does pull from that inspiration. (My biggest Thing with mermaid design is hating when they have KNEES, fastest way to make them look less like a "real" creature and more like a human in a costume.)
And speaking of body style; Reed is a certified Large Boi
And by large i mean LONG
Like... 13-ish feet ...
And its not just art style, his face IS proportioned like that OwO (it's hard to depict but ideally his "hair" would actually be thicker individual strands than actual hair and be more akin to jellyfish tentacles)
Reed does pop around the shallows more than is probably safe, teaching himself Human by spying on tourists, narrowly avoiding being caught by fishermen, and accidentally beaching himself sunbathing.

I've been meaning to do Inn Between group pictures for ages (I like to picture the Goblins Head having a wall like how restaurants have a wall of pictures of celebrities who've eaten there only it's all the adventuring parties the inn's taken a shine to)
Hopefully everyone's identifiable, it's a whole different kind of hard to try and draw fanart of folks who just don't HAVE canon designs, but this is more or less what they all look like in my head.
