Darrin wore glasses because he liked them, not because he needed them. They made him look smart, approachable, he had long ago decided. Either way, they were now fogging up from the air conditioning as he leaned over the counter in Verbatim Comics. For a while, he had been flipping through some graphic novel with a Nosferatu-looking vampire on the front, menacing a pair of teenagers in a dark, winding forest. âDonât you think this is completely unrealistic?â He asked at last, turning it over to show a page to whoever happened to be perusing his wares. âLike, he canât cross running water, but they spent a whole chapter on him riding a boat over to New York fromâŚsome nondescript European country. It just feels like a plot hole. Like, does he take baths? Can he get into the tub if the faucet is on?â He trailed off, furrowing his brow. âIâm sorry. Can I help you find something today?â @mysticstartâ
Atlas was wrapped up into the phone call, helping the person on the other end, that he didnât look up when the bells went off above the front door signalling a new customer. All he did was hold up a finger in that direction to show he would be right with them. Like in a small town, especially a small town with humans in it, meant that business could at times be slow enough for just one person to be working. Which was fine by Atlas, since he had more time to study during slow times. Finally finishing his call, he set the phone down and called out to whoever had entered, sliding off from his stool and moving from behind the counter. âWelcome to Quirks and Oddities.â
Ines browsed through the shelves of the library, looking for the history section. Every town had a library and in those libraries, there should be books about that townâs history, right? She knew her father was here in Hazelgrove, but why this place? They had family in other cities, but why did he choose to come here? Letting her fingertips run lightly across the various book spines as she browsed, she pulled a history book out at random though cursed softly in surprise as she accidentally knocked a couple other books off the shelf. âShit!â she said sharply, trying to keep quiet as she gathered up the books.
As a rule, Gabriel did not glower. But he did observe. And he did glare. Standing in a corner of the ballroom, pretending to be fascinated by the drink glass in his hand, he privately watched a woman in a dark dress making her way through the crowd. She moved easily, brightly, all smiles and small talk. And there was no denying she was a McClain. Ever since his sister had decided to walk the Path of Night, Gabe had regarded her with disappointment. But as of late, it was perhaps beginning to morph into resentment. He took a long swig at that thought, and he suddenly wished the concoction was stronger than club soda. âItâs wonderful we can allâŚput our feuds aside tonight, isnt it?â He said into to the air, allowing the moment of terseness to fade away into a more practiced smile. It looked almost sinister. @mysticstartâ

heâs adjusted his tie for the seventh time this evening â itâs always too tight. logan knows how to tie a god-damn tie. he might have been raised in a literal barn but he knew how to play dress up, he just didnât like it. loosening it once more, logan takes a deep breath and shakes his head a little when he senses the approach of another being. âbefore you ask, i donât need help. i just need to get out of this fuckinâ suit.â heâs all too aware of his body, all of it felt cased in, unable to breathe. if logan could, heâd spend all of his days with not a stitch on him. @mysticstartâ
She almost didnât go. It had been hell trying to find a dress that was the right style for a damn ball. Sheâd spent way too much money on it and she was fucked if things didnât work out the way she wanted. Helena knew she needed clients and a giant party where everyone in town was attending seemed like a reasonable place to start. Of course it was probably a risk to try things right under the noses of the two main covens.Â
It was hard not to feel invisible moving through the room. So many people in bright and bold colours with extravagant designs. Everyone knew each other it seemed. Maybe this wasnât the best idea. Deciding the bar was the best place to go she headed over. Closing her eyes for a moment once she got there she tried to centre herself. As she did she heard someone speak and opened her eyes to turn her head and look at them. âIâm sorry, what did you say?â @mysticstartâ
Heâd convinced himself it was a challenge. Large room, lots of people, loud noises. In the few months he had been in town he had largely kept to himself as he got himself set up and use to his new surroundings. If he was correctly informed most of the town had been invited the the ball. He couldnât give up the opportunity to meet people. Heâd already spent the last two years basically living as a hermit as he dealt with his grief, he needed to get out.
Of course there was still the problem of standing in a large room with lots of people and loud noises. He moved through the crowd, trying to find somewhere that would be reasonable for him to stand. He was lucky that he was taller than most and therefor had some breathing room. Nova wasnât with him tonight so he was on his own. Somehow on his walk through the room heâd ended up with two drinks. Once he had found a corner he could settle into he looked around before stepping up the nearest drinkless person. âWould you like this? They handed me two for some reason.â @mysticstartâ
The Prince strutted into the main hall of the Bloodmoon. This dark green suit with top hat and his gentlemenâs cane made a statement as he arrived. To his delight, everyone in town was here. From humans to faes. This was the perfect time to keep an eye on so many people. He already knew which people he was going to be trailing most of the night. And the best part of tonight, he didnât have to pretend as much tonight. He was growing tired of being a quiet human. After tonight, this town will know the new Charlie the demon has made. Belvar made his way into the crowd. He had a champagne flute in his hand and the handle of his cane in the other. He missed parties like this back home. Those werenât usually as peaceful for every long and he was treated like royalty. He was willing to let one of those happen tonight. Belvar walked up to the nearest person, taking a fast swig of his drink. âWoo. I havenât been to something this formal since senior prom.â The demon spoke in his most âalmost drunk Charlieâ voice. âDo you know if these are unlimited?â @mysticstartâ
âIâve been attending a lot of balls for a while.â Sirenia told a random person as she took a sip of her champagne. Her white dress swayed around her feet as she moved slowly across the ballroom.âBut you know whatâs the best part of a ball? Dancing. I intend to do it all nightâ

âWhoa.â Roxy gasped as she entered the place, admiring every corner of the entrance hall. The decoration was on point, she thought. She just stood there for a while, in awe. âTheyâre getting better and better every year.â She almost said to herself. That night, Satin Lounge was closed and she knew her employees would make an appearance as well. The vampire was pretty sure the whole town was attending the ball.Â
He was standing at the base of a tree, looking up into the branches with a small frown of concentration. Far up, he could see the object of his focus tangled in the leaves and branches out of his reach. Okay, so maybe he had used too much force when he was swinging around his yo-yo. But he couldnât help himself when he got excited. Combine that with his butterfingers, things were bound to slip from his grasp.
âWelp, you really junked your jeans on this one, Simmons,â he muttered to himself, not really feeling like climbing into the tree but also unable to use any of his abilities to take it down since he was in public. He wouldnât hear the end of it from his brothers if he got busted by a human or hunter just to rescue a busted toy from a tree.
Perhaps he was odd for being out so late but summer made it so hard to gain real darkness in the skies. He would usually sit out in the vast lands around his house but Luna needed walking so Marcus had set out his his telescope and blanket and they had ended up at the park. He found the darkest spot he could and set himself up, letting Luna off her leash so she could wander as he sat and watched the world about. âLooks like Marcus, Saturn, and Jupiter are suppose to have perfect visibility tonight. Venus is also suppose to be very good.â He said to Nova as if she could understand him. âWeâll try for the others but if the skies donât permit it then it isnât meant to be.â He looked down the check his telescope was positioned correctly before glancing back up to check on Nova and jumping slight when he saw someone approaching out of the dark. âIâm sorry, you gave me a fright. Wasnât expecting to see anyone out so late.â
P.D. had been mowing his yard, trimming the trees, and even pulling weeds. He hated the idea of a weed-whacker, thinking itâd just be best to do it with his own two hands. He was a strong wolf, he could do it! So, as he was kneeling in the St. Augustine, he saw one stubborn weed that just wouldnât come up. Growling in frustration, he he put the heels of his boots right into the ground before yanking as hard as he could. Once it was up and he fell onto his back, he realized it wasnât just a weed. It was a baby tree! Quickly planting it back, he went to grab soil as he saw someone walking by. âOh, hey, are ya a neighbor?â

It wasnât that the demon lacked a work ethic- when Salazar was assionate enough he enoys the work and gets more done. But this work-didnât have the same energy as his usual tasks. Checking on employees, dusting the store front, and those tedious customers who refuse to look for things themselves-it was a headache to say the least. Salazar tried to supress the eye roll as he heard the bell at the store. He placed the glasses on his face. Time to pull off the act of a lifetime.Â
âWelcome to Harvest Moon where are savings are over the moon! He said with a jovial tone. âHow can I help you today?âÂ

This lonely scene was an odd one. Gabe, sleeves rolled up, arms outstretched, sat in a square of grass, surrounded by a circle of gently flickering candles. The orange flames cast strange, creeping shadows across his face and clenched eyes, and the air almost seemed to pulse with some hidden magic. The presence, though, wherever it lay, was suffocating, sapping the surrounding air with its own all-encompassing anger. âI cannot tell you how sorry I am. You didnât deserve this.â Gabriel spoke up softly, calm even under the oppressive gaze of the other. âI understand your rage. But I am your ally, the vessel for your vengeance. Justice.â As he spoke this last word, a gust seemed to fill the area, extinguishing each lit wick in one hushed whoosh. Eyes opening, the witch looked over his shoulder to the intruder. ââŚ.Theyâve gone. Whoâs there?âÂ
The flowerâs danced gaily in the night breeze, a myriad of vibrant color. For Katherine it was an aroma evocative of summers past and it transported her a childhood spent in with her grandfather tending the garden his wife loved so much. It was where her love for them grew and brought her to where she was today. Owner of the black dahlia. Katherine usually tended to the flowers outside her shop before closing. Yet the day had gotten busy and it seemed she only had time to take proper care of them now. Humming as she did so. They say if you talk or sing to flowers, it will help them grow and be happy, after all.Â
