trouble.

“my trouble, in trouble?” he asks, teasing the other, wincing slightly as kade pokes at him. the gesture doesn’t hurt, not at all, but when it happens, his automatic reaction is to flinch. “maybe you should just come clean, tell your family that you’ve met the man of your dreams and he just so happens to be a big ol’ werewolf. i’m sure they’ll understand.” they won’t, even logan knows they won’t, but a guy could dream. “but what do we do when we have to invite them to the wedding?”

Though the idea was a tempting one given his nature and own personal philosophy, Kade knew his family well enough to know that they’d kill him, especially if they knew he was an Alpha. Letting himself curl in close to Logan he sighed and shook his head. “You really do have a death wish, huh?” he teased, his expression softening a bit, as it always did for Logan. “C’mon lets go someplace. After what happened my old man has eyes everywhere.”

“Oh, you know, the usual. Secret mob hit. Government conspiracy. Didn’t forward a chain email. That kind of thing.” Saying this, Darrin managed a small nod, but in truth, he was largely making up possibilities on the fly. “That’s a good one, though,” he added at last, shifting focus to the comic book through which Kade was looking. He extended a hand to tap at the open page. “Introduces the Green Goblin. This is a reprint, but an original in good condition can go for thousands if you ever find one.” He gave another small simper.

“And which one do you think it is this time?” Kade smirked. Rumors after all, each had a thread of truth to them–or so Kade generally thought to be true. “My money’s on government conspiracy.” He teased. Before he was able to put it back, the clerk motioned toward the comic in his hand and began to ramble on about it. Though he normally found people’s ramblings to be somewhat annoying, he found his rather endearing. Maybe it was because Kade secretly had always loved comic books more than he’d been allowed to. Now as an adult, he could actually partake in his interests without his parents lording over him constantly––although they of course still tried. 

“No I’m calling them idiots, I thought that much was clear.” Had she not said that she thought they were idiots? Anyone foolish enough to allow themselves to get caught in the trap and destructive cycle that was addiction to the point where you’re trying to get a score off a street corner, in her opinion was an idiot.

“I’m from New Orleans so while korean isn’t exactly your first type of food you’ll find there, there isn’t a type of food that could put me off.” Cajun food was known for using hot peppers as seasoning, she was sure whatever she was introduced to here would be just fine.

“Fair enough I guess?” Kade chuckled, not really sure where this conversation was going. Whatever he had to say it was clear she’d make a point of jumping down his throat. She was really intense and he really got the vibe that she could barely tolerate his presence. He wondered why she was still with him. Maybe she was a masochist and she liked talking to people she thought were stupider than her.

A slow, amused, grin grew on his face. The human looked irritated, that was for sure. But Sinclair was feeling entertained right now. He doubted this was the worse the other could sling at him, but even his worst couldn’t be more horrible than what Sinclair has heard over the last millennia or so. “Oh, no. The creepy book club starts later on, after the sun goes down. Thanks for making sure I don’t miss it, though,” he said with a grin. “But you seem pretty upset about coffee and haircuts, kid. Did some barista with a rat tail sleep with your dad and kill your mom or something?”

Helena blinked at him, her eyebrows raising just a little as she waited for him to realise what he had just said. “I feel like you think that answer disproved me but it really only proved my point.” If they’re going to be sketchy enough to stand around looking for junkies or someone can’t get what they needed from a vetted source then yeah she considered them idiots. Helena had done her fair share of dealings with the black market. Taking things at face value was a stupid and amateurish move. 

“Never had Korean but no I’m not a vegan. We didn’t do that in my house.” Considering the amount of sacrifices that went on being Vegan would be redundant in so many ways.

“So you think people that do drugs and buy drugs on the regular...know exactly where their drugs come from all the time? Or even care?” Kade scoffed, his eyes rolled. “Do you regularly chat with the Colombian guy that makes your coke?” He was poking at her of course. Buying and trading drugs wasn’t exactly a clean process on the street. There were a lot of people in between. It was messy and morally dubious scene. Most dealers weren’t exactly honest people either given their criminal profession. They wanted to push product. 

“Oh, uh, I wasn’t even there, to be honest. I was just making small talk when I brought it up. Not that that’s, like, small talk, you know? But it’s like the weather. Everyone knows about it.” Darrin offered a somewhat awkward smile, lips pursed as if only to avoid having to show his teeth. Even if his fangs were tucked away, however, he had been in town long enough to at least be tangentially aware of the Wessons. And as a rule, Hunters made him nervous; it manifested in the way he was now twirling the pen in his hand. “I was busy that night. So I don’t really know what happened either. But…uh, I guess, the rumor mill isn’t helping.” 

logan knows exactly where kade had been the night of the ball, the two of them sneaking away to avoid the prying eyes of other hunters and anyone that might run back to tell kade’s family. biting his lower lip, he jumps into the conversation kade is having with the other and tries to hide the ever growing smirk on his lips. “oh, pray tell….”

Belvar didn’t break his stare on the human. It was times like this that he wished that he had a vessel that was more social. Charlie was a loner even before the demon made himself welcomed. Belvar racked through Charlie’s memories if he had any connection to the hunter. Belvar cleared his throat when the other seemed to be offended by his comment on this book. “No. I just meant it might be something different than what you might usually read.” He watched Kade purposely not put the book back where it belonged. With a soft sigh he uttered under his breath, “Seeing as you can’t read simple labels.”  Belvar took the book from the shelf and placed it back where it should be, stepping in front of Kade. “Since you aren’t looking for a fiction read. Is there anything you were looking for in particular?”

“Like I told everyone else, I really don’t know what happened at the party. I was a little... preoccupied.”

“I’ve been attending a lot of balls for a while.” Sirenia told a random person as she took a sip of her champagne. Her white dress swayed around her feet as she moved slowly across the ballroom.“But you know what’s the best part of a ball? Dancing. I intend to do it all night”

one hand moves from the humans neck to take place at his waist. the hand that remains curls tightly around kade’s throat, finger pressing down just slightly to labor his breathing a fraction. his touch is possessive, as is the look in his dark green eyes as he stares down at the intoxicating being that’s haunted his thoughts since the moment he’d first laid eyes on him. logan tries his best not to mix with hunters, he’s an alpha, he shouldn’t be luring danger to his doorstep – and yet, he can’t help himself. “you’re not the only one breaking the rules here, bambi. but what can i say, i like the way you submit to me.”

he allows another growl to slip past his lips, a sly smirk coming to settle upon them as he watches the look in kade’s eyes shift. “pretty boy…you make for such a satisfying treat after a long day.” he ignores his comment about making it an hour, dismissing it enitrely and letting it fall upon deaf ears. he guides the male back with him to his car, his hand settling upon his thigh the second he settles, long fingers creeping inwards.

Kade somehow simultaneously loved and hated when Logan’s hands wandered so freely while they were in public. The wolf somehow had the audacity to keep that heavy hand around his throat and it both enraged him and aroused him. Especially when he squeezed. It wasn’t fair. His eyes met the wolf’s with a soft glare, his cheekbones dusted pink. Fuck, Logan was too cocky for his own good. Too good looking too. He writhed stubbornly against the strong grip that held him in place and gasped for air, his chest rising a falling with labored breaths. Pretty boy. Damn, did he know just how to get to him. “Your hour already started,” he challenged. “You really wanna waste it here?”

He could sense how the other’s demeanor changed, the way he seemed to almost melt in his embrace. The bite at the other’s ear seemed to set off a spark that had him giving a breathy laugh into it. His tongue went over the shell of his ear, embracing the other against him fully as he quickly stepped into the shadows. “Oh, don’t worry.” He whispered into his ear, his free hand going from the back of his head to his cheek to stroke the skin there. “I’m going to take you home, honeycakes.”

With that being said, he slowly enveloped them in the shadows as he quickly teleported them back to his home in the woods. It was far, too far to walk for a human of Kade’s stature. But, to teleport, oh that was far easier. And Raine was lazy. Sure, he probably was going somewhere but he was definitely going to enjoy this man in his bed, under him, and screaming out the Lord’s name in absolute fucking vain. A nice ‘fuck you’ to the Heavenly Father that seemed to ‘love all’ but not the ones who thought his regime was bullshit. And damned if he wasn’t turned on by that exact thought.

In an unnatural and freakish bending of time and space, the two teleported to what Kade had to assume was Raine’s home. At first he wasn’t always sure of what his surroundings were. The nausea immediately set in, his head spinning slightly and his vision tunneling. Wobbling a bit in Raine’s grip he blinked and shook his head in an attempt to gain some control over his body. Thank god he hadn’t eaten. “Fuck–” he pushed Raine off of him and stumbled back a bit, finally feeling like himself after a couple seconds. “At least warn me next time, you smug shit...”

“Then you gotta persist in kicking their asses harder. Don’t make them own you. Make them owe you some respect. I believe in you, Kadorade.“ She advised him and kissed his cheek, messing his hair with her fingers. "Are you sure you only like me for my free drinks? C'mon, I had faith in you… You just broke my heart.” She teased back and feigned a hurt expression, letting out a laugh a few seconds later. “You know what’s greater than a simple happy hour?” She raised a brow suggestively. “A Karaoke night! Will you be my singing partner? We’ll be so wasted we won’t even give a shit about anything!” 

Mateo fully turned to the hunter. He glanced down to the pack envelope that he dropped. Besides his auto shop, Mateo did have a fighting ring in the back of the building, hidden away from anyone not looking to gamble or fight. “Hm.” He only responded, taking the envelope. “I thought I saw you there last night.” Mateo opened the envelope and started to count the bills. “Pleasure doing business Wesson.” Mateo pocketed the money. “Better luck next time, huh?” He returned a smirk. The alpha glanced back up at the moon. These nights were never the easiest for him. This wolf side, no matter what he does, always seems to make him more aggravated. His smile slipped away. Mateo took a step closer to the hunter. He had to remind the human that he was on his territory right now. “You dropped off your dues. Now you can get off my territory, or are we going to have some trouble tonight? Becaue I’m not in the mood.”

“Aw, you actually noticed lil’ old me?” Kade quirked a brow, his signature cocky smile plastered on his face. “So flattered.” The hunter watched carefully as Mateo started counting, as if someone like him was actually going to be short. He admired the guy’s diligence though. It was cute. “Eh,” he shrugged. “Easy come easy go. There’s always another fight, right?” Knowing what he knew could get Mateo in a good spot of trouble and Kade always felt the need to lord that fact over him. Though of course, he’d never do anything like that. He was obnoxiously careful about attending, not wanting his family or any other hunter for that matter to ruin the something he enjoyed. But, it was still fun to tease the alpha. “Y’know you disappoint me, Rivera.” Kade rolled his eyes as he chided the other. “Gettin’ territorial? Total wolf cliché.”
