so shane goes along with it, because the most important thing is getting ilya back. he says yes, rozanov, i love you too, i want a life with you. yes, we can do that. yes, i’ll meet you here. i’ll fly out after the game. but sometimes he says things like i love you, ilya. i’ve got you, ilya. we’ll figure this out, ilya. and hopes that he Understands what he’s saying, if he can even hear him, that this demon might be acting for him and talking for him but shane DOES love him, the real him, and he IS doing his best to figure it all out.

eventually he gets marlow (italian catholic, so he knows he won’t think he’s crazy) to help him, because he’s ALSO noticed that shit is off with ilya, and through marlow gets sveta involved. rose played a possessed nun in some horror flick a few years ago, and happens to have the number of an actual vatican-approved exorcist. they have a groupchat and everything. so there ARE people who think it’s weird when he and shane just vanish, when they both stop answering their phones, etc etc. so they mobilise the troops and figure out theyre at shanes insane sex condo (demons are too old to know what find my friends is) and demon is Definitely trying to enact its plan to Kill Shane And Make Ilya Watch

ooooh I love this au sm, I live here now. the thought of poor Ilya getting used to his own body again and Shane who is doing his best to take care of him ...

I also feel like the demon didn't have any interest in food, like Ilya's physical body felt hungry and thirsty but the demon was living off of like, plain oatmeal and water for a year. so Ilya gets all sorts of cravings; he constantly wants hot Cheetos and Coke and the big beefsteak tomatoes from Yuna's vegetable garden and burgers and hot dogs straight from the grill. Shane gets him whatever he wants because he also knows Ilya will lapse into periods where he's too sick to eat for days

Ilya loves the lake, sitting by the water is one of the few times he feels at peace. he'll sit out there for hours with his feet in the water, getting eaten alive by mosquitos and letting his skin get wrinkly. he especially likes it first thing in the morning or late in the evening, when the sun isn't warming the water so it's especially cold against his feet. having the physical sensation helps distract him. Shane will sit out there with him sometimes, or at the very least watch him from the window to make sure he's okay.

Ilya's terrified to sleep, because dreaming is what got him into this mess in the first place. he tries to stay in bed with Shane, but Shane will wake up in the middle of the night to an empty bed and hear noise downstairs. he'll go investigate and find Ilya sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket and watching HGTV or Food Network or TLC, something mindless but simple. Shane will sit with him for awhile, not saying anything but just letting Ilya know he's there. Ilya will go days without sleeping and then randomly fall asleep while he's out on the deck or on a yoga mat in the home gym. Shane always gets him a blanket and a pillow, and if he's outside he'll put up one of his outdoor umbrellas so Ilya doesn't get burnt.
