if you'll all join me on my "i've connected the two dots" bullshit for a moment. the knight is intrinsically tied to dess's disappearance so we can actually throw rudy- and carolknight theories out the window. asgore's notes couldddd also be debunking dessknight but like... walk with me here. what if that original black shard was a "seed" of sorts? left behind by dess no-clipping out of standard reality in a similar manner as kris and noelle in the weird route. and what if the knight... grew from it.

rather than literally being dess, twisted and gnarled beyond recognition, what if the knight is a manifestation of all her broken, unfulfilled dreams... and fears (gestures at its titanlike appearance)

it carries out her will, or maybe she has full/semi-control over it from wherever she is. could explain the eyeball in its chest... maybe it's something like the SOUL and kris (and maddie and mew mew)
