My boyfriend is a person who likes exact instructions. He also has a remarkably large head. Like, in the kind of range where regular clothing manufactures do not make hats that size because it's not financially profitable. He is 2 cm taller than me and his head circumference is 3 cm smaller than my waist. Can walk into any shop that sells hats, ask them "what's the biggest size you carry?" and walk out after hearing it's too small. And if he ever ends up in a workplace where the uniform requires a hat, but they do not have any headgear available that would fit him, it's in their best interest to at least have some kind of specific instructions of what kind of hat he should have before telling him to just bring his own hat from home.

We have GOT to resist the normalization of child labor. The decline of education is not a reason for children to join the workforce. "Labor shortages" are not a reason for children to join the workforce. Parents' weakened earning power is not a reason for children to join the workforce.

Bilingual kids are fun to witness. Was walking our neighbour's dog today, and walked past a playground where I overheard a conversation between a mother (presumably) and her 2-3-year-old kid. The kid kept repeating "aua", which both me and apparently the mother interpreted as "auta" - "help (me)", getting progressively more frustrated, and the mom kept telling him - in finnish - that sweetie I don't know what you want me to help you with, you've got to use more words to explain what the problem is. And after accepting that repeating "aua" with more and more stress on the word wasn't working, the kid yelled out one word in clear swedish:
