Jack Kelly was born the oldest of two, by five minutes, to an unhappily married couple. Andrew and Victoria Kelly would split no more than two years after the birth of their twin children. The deal was simple. Theyâd each have full custody of one twin and go their separate ways. Which, is exactly what they did. For a few years, Andrew remained in London, but between citizenship issues and a desire to return home, by the time Jack was five, theyâd moved to New York.
Growing up for Jack was rough. Andrew didnât have a lot of money and while he worked hard, they didnât always have enough money for food or rent. He did his best by Jack, but the pair ended up homeless for most of Jackâs childhood, living out of a car or hotel, whatever they could. And that only got worse as Jack entered their teen years, as Andrew become ill. By the time Jack was sixteen, their father had passed away. Being sixteen, and already working multiple jobs, Jack chose to drop out of high school and simply work full time to support themself. It didnât particularly get them far, they were still often homeless, but they did everything they could to support themself and further their art.
Around the time Jack was 21, theyâd started looking into their mother, trying to locate any information on the woman in an attempt to reconnect with her. They first located their twin sister, Elizabeth, and while the woman warned Jack that Victoria wasnât liable to want anything to do with them, she definitely did. And Elizabeth was right, Victoria wanted nothing to do with Jack, even after hearing about the hardships theyâd faced growing up. However, they struck up a strong bond with Elizabeth and she helped them out when she could, as Victoria had married into a rather wealthy family and Elizabeth had more money than she needed. Though, over the years, Jack was always hesitant to take the money offered to them by their sister.
Over the years, Jack has had a number of small gallery showings, but still relies heavily on being a bartender to keep themself afloat. Their art has landed them a place as a set creator for various plays and musicals, primarily off Broadway and community theatre, but Jack rather enjoys the work, as it was something theyâd done as a teenager for extra cash or a place to stay. In fact, before leaving high school, theyâd done what they could with their schoolâs theater department, not because they particularly loved acting, but because they enjoyed the general vibe of it all.
