Not to say Schmigadoon! is trash or something—to me the story just isn't as compelling. The costume and set? Beautiful. The music? Pretty good. But that pales in comparison to a story like Lost Boys imo.

Like, Ali Louis Bourzgui put it perfectly. It is a place for all who feel they don't fit in to relate and feel seen. For the queer, for the POC, for the victims of pain and strife. The fact a musical like that lost to what appears to just be a comedy? Eughhh.

honestly when initially conceptualizing this i had everyone in the roles you'd probably expect (tord as alex, edd as jay, so on) before realizing 1) it kinda sucked and 2) it didnt actually play into the pre-existing character dynamics of eddsworld. so, i changed the line-up to: Edd as Alex Kralie Tom as Jay Merrick Tord as Tim Wright and Matt as Brian Thomas

i still gotta figure out who'd be jessica but that's a bit of a toss-up rn lol

you may think "hey wouldnt having tom and tord work together Also go against their characters" but i think thats kind of the fun of writing them as tim and jay: a very begrudging partnership to figure out what the hell happened to a mutual friend that turns into a friendship.

also irt matt as brian: i think it'd very much be one of those things where current matt was him in college, working with edd and all that but like- old school more serious matt is the guy behind the mask, yknow?

Tord having to kill Edd is also so. Ohh my god that's so interesting narratively. "It wasn't meant to end like this" cranked up to a ten if their friendship dynamics are still like the EW canon.

AND tom as jay and tord as tim makes a lot of sense tbh. I wouldn't really say jay and tim initially got along. The friendship forming after the fact works for it.

honestly tho i just think if anyone in that cast is bound to have a "leaks private medical information and then gets decked for it" relationship its tom and tord lmaooo

but yeah edd being the most notably creative one out of all of them is why i felt inclined to make him alex. he's strictly speaking also the one who brought all four of them together and created something that ties them together.

tom honestly kinda got slotted into the jay role tho because by virtue of being iirc the second ever cast member, it just Felt right. i love headcanoning alex and jay as having been particularly close n all that and i just feel like tom and edd fit that bill pretty well yknow?
