Can we talk about how genius the song is? I’ve seen people say that they think the “Hey, kids! Spelling is fun!” lyric is weird but I don’t agree….Taylor is the queen of writing catchy songs and while the lyrics aren’t necessarily deep it doesn’t mean the song isn’t well thought out. “I want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves”. During the chorus you hear lots of trumpets and a lot of different instruments, which makes it super happy and it’s like an orchestra -WHICH at one point is a scene in the music video, when we hit the bridge. It’s a fun and light song and I think it’s genius, just like the part “strike the band up, 1, 2, 3″ which they repeat later on in the song and when the bridge and chorus all become one the music is everywhere!! It’s about individuality and celebrating it, and owning it and these lyrics are so fun and cheerful and that’s exactly what this song is supposed to be! It’s funny and a bit silly…like Taylor… and being yourself is the point of the song. The song is catchy and the elements are all there on purpose. “You’re the only one of you, baby that’s the FUN of you!”
