The main deciding factor for me is “How is this portrayed?”

If a piece of fiction portrays the perpetrator(s) as likable (in a way in which they are not implied to be manipulative about it), a good person, and heroic, while those against the perpetrator are antagonistic and unreasonable, and the dynamic is not shown to be unhealthy, that is at the minimum a mild endorsement

If this content is posted somewhere where someone incredibly impressionable (mostly children) can access this on accident, without having to go out of their way to find this, then the creator is an active participant in abuse. And if DIRECTED towards children? Pedophilic.

If the perpetrator(s) is/are not supposed to be liked by the audience, if those who oppose the perpetrator are not seen as being bad for it (taking an unreasonable approach can make the conflict more interesting), and the dynamic is CLEARLY shown as abusive, it is not in any way shape or form an endorsement. This isn’t saying the piece of work should always say “This thing = Bad”, but creators need to be aware on how their work is perceived by others

Still, the creator should cautious when posting where children can find this content. Tag and filter appropriately.

This is MUCH LESS of a thing if a work is not being posted and is just for the creator and their peers. Still, not a bad idea to stay conscious on what mindsets a work is promoting

My main thought process from this came from these pairs of videos from Sloan Stowe, talking about grooming in Pretty Little Liars and BoJack Horseman (lining up to the order of abuse being portrayed respectively)
