I often think about when I was 13 and started 8th grade and our first unit in English class was introducing us to symbolism and making sure we really understood it before analyzing it in full books. And the way we did that is spending a month analyzing the music video for Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America.’ Like my public school spent a month on that. It was awesome.
