ok i suddenly had a thought and got curious

visual artists: when you have an idea for something, does it appear in your mind as the finished product, the steps you'll have to take, a sentence, or something else?

finished thing (i saw an image of an apple in my head so that's what i'll draw)

steps (if i draw an apple, i'll draw a circle as a guide first, then...)

sentence (i should draw an apple being picked from a tree)

a combination of these (tell me in the tags!!)

something else (also tell me in the tags!!!!)

not a visual artist, just curious.

i have aphantasia (i can't see images in my brain) so i just like hearing how other people visualize ideas LOL also hopefully the examples i wrote make sense it's kind of hard to put into words but ehhhh

#sort of depends but: usually i'll see a piece of what i want to make #so to end up with a character in a cool outfit i might see 'fuzzy green jacket' and 'goth boots'#and then build an image around those pieces #when in doodling in my sketchbook i often just kinda go without much of a plan just responding to whats already there #its relaxing but the results arent usually very impressive bc its not designed in the same way #i think ppl get too hung up on this tbh. 'inner sight' and being good at drawing are totally different. Ive always been good at visualizing #but i had to fight tooth and nail for years to be able to draw at all

you have to forgive the printer because it's one of the most machine-ass machines we interact with on a day to day basis. that thing says kerchunk. hardly anything says kerchunk these days. you can't get mad at her when she kerchunks up a little.
