like he might have been a bastard child, or was born an accident/unplanned... theres a handful of fan art by artists on pixiv speculating ichijou was raised by a young single mother who, like ichijou, was very beautiful and emotionally unstable. she wasnt evil per say but very neglectful to her child as a lot of younger parents are (ive basically accepted this all as canon just because of how accurate it seemed lol) i think a lot of the problems ichijou has with money, birthdays, self worth probably stems from a childhood like this. his mom was terrible with money and spent a lot of their small budget on beauty products and clothes while his birthdays were barebones. suffering similar explosive breakdowns much like her son in the future. and with no money ichijou decides college is out the window so he immediately decides to move to tokyo right after graduating high school. (also to get farther away from his mom) hes not aware in the slightest that hes mirroring a lot of his mothers toxic traits and takes it out on murakami and others lol

and the fatherless aspect could be the reason he was so easily manipulated into doing dirty work by all these older men. (specifically both kurosaki and ashida) hes so desperate for that father figure (especially with kurosaki) that he'd gladly be persuaded into working for a corrupt company as long as he gets praise and attention. hes the perfect victim really... and they scouted him out because of that! they know the way to make him obedient is to come to him as an older male figure and it works like magic on him (and now let me tell you how they used this trait of his to bang him- no? now's not the time? ah...) but yea if he had a prominent father figure growing up i guarantee he wouldn't have end up in teiai!!

oh!!! ive thought long and hard about what the hell could ashida be up to after all these years... a few ideas come to mind-

- hes still has the same old job seeking out debtors and is absolutely miserable about it... probably eventually also tasked with finding kaiji like all the other black suits in part 6

- he somehow ranks up? (very unlikely in my opinion)

- he quits (similarly to murakami quitting but unknown if its due to ichijou being sent to labor camp) no idea if he finds a new job or anything

- he goes to jail (what i like to call the ashida goes to jail sub plot) for what exactly idk... perhaps human trafficking twinks
