all the ice i use in the lab got me thinking about ice as a flight. i really hate that it's a jail themed flight and i know i'm not the first person to say that but i was thinking about the role that ice and the cold plays in my life as well as in culture and in biology and idk.... cold is slow. from a scientific perspective, cold is the absence of movement and energy, a reduction in metabolism, a slowing down of everything down to the molecules and atoms. ice is stasis; we freeze things to preserve them. and living in a place with bitterly cold winter it's for me a period of hibernation, meditation, germination in the long dark night awaiting spring. a little bit of madness and a lot of nihilism.
and THAT is why i think ice flight should get light flight's nachos. it should be the meditation philosophy and history flight. and light flight should be something else entirely. haven't figured out what though i'll ruminate on that for now
