I desperately have the desire to draw but the heat makes it hard to have motivation. This is a 30 minute sketch to wind down the night after getting frustrated with a different composition I scrapped (completely unrelated to this drawing). How do I make my dragons characters

my method was sort of a backwards-engineering to ACTUALLY do whatever i want forever, because what i really wanted to do most of all was... not read the lore! and i still haven't, after 7 years of being a lore player :] i just focused on the kind of story/setting/characters/themes/etc. that would be fun for me to write, created my lore setting around that, and used my vague osmosis knowledge to pick out & incorporate pieces i thought were interesting.

ultimately i wanted to be a collaborative clan, so i chose to not even set my original lore in sornieth at all, but a different continent, which allowed me to interact with my friends lore while not conflicting too much with canon lore! we just 'visited' each others lore, same way characters in different flights might visit each others clans to interact. it was just farther, canonically!

i like worldbuilding, so that was my perfect excuse for no-limits lore setting creation. over the years though, i've osmosis'd enough lore that i decided to retire (hibden) that setting, and switch to a different universe/timeline set in sornieth. this time i made my lore around specific things i liked in the on-site lore, including the hewn city, emperor's wake, general plague 'aesthetic', and my interpretation of the shade. this method of picking a facet to build around worked super well for me! and even originally, the facet i used to build around was my progens/old dragons :]

my playstyle has changed over the years along with my taste in dragons, storytelling, and characters, but you're never married to anything. start with something small, and build from there! FR clan lore is ever-evolving, and in many ways can often never truly be 'finished'. embrace the perpetual WIP, add things when you have inspiration, and scrap things when they dont spark joy anymore.

most importantly, do what's fun for you!! even if it takes you a bit of trial and error to find what that is

ghost desperate to return to life after her completely unjustified death, and the fool skydancer who entered a pact with her. she might regret that soon, though...

need to character design and name these two but wanted to mess around with their dynamic first~ spiral is trying to scare/gross out skydancer but realizes she's in over her head here. maybe the kind of dragon who'd so willingly tie herself to a malevolent ghost for power shouldn't be trusted with this huge magic source on tap. too late now!
