‘I can’t think of anything more rewarding in this post-Baywatch video apocalypse than concocting a video that connects a surfboard to the Berlin Wall to the red deserts of Utah to the sad abandoned beaches of Los Angeles. Each place is a touchstone in my already absurd adventure called life, and if there’s one thing mtrss and I agree upon, it’s that adventure is very near if not AT the center of our creativity.
I happened to be in the studio when Cali High was being finished. I’m not gonna say I cried once again at how so good it was, but I will say that the ideas for the video were automatic and in unison. The guys have the uncanny ability to see the potential in the oddest of concepts, where others may shy away… So new unseen things just keep happening whenever we collaborate.
Somewhere in the ruins of all my best ideas tossed aside by artists who are afraid of the unseen, they ALWAYS step up to do something truly original. It’s risky but it works and it feels REALLY good’.
