Tumblr, Check Your Fcking Privilege

Hey there! Happy Transday of Visibility. Live long and prosper to those who are free to be whoever they want to be. To those who are still hiding from who they truly are, endure it and be brave. A transition is a big commitment, and being able to come out to friends and family can be a horrifying experience and one that may or may not turn to your bidding. But you are strong, and I know that. You don’t have to continue reading if you don’t feel the need to read what I have mentioned. It’s just a few nitpicks from the Tumblr mods who made a reminder to us Cis people.

And on to the nitpicks!

*A trans person being an asshole, although that needs to be called out, is no excuse for misgendering or deadnaming someone.

For this one, I feel like if any trans person is being an asshole to me, I have every right to not only call them out but to treat them however I please in return. I mean cisgender is used as a derogatory term here on Tumblr so screw the fuckers who tried to mess with me.

*Transphobia is structural, there’s no equivalent for cis people because they don’t face this kind of oppression.

Cisphobia exists only here on Tumblr! It’s practiced by a lot of Trans people and other people of other communities. I mean, it seems like Tumblr is absolutely fine with tolerating hate and discrimination among people who are white, cis, straight, or even male! So please stop acting like it doesn’t exist. Because it does.

*Remember that transphobia, and also transmisogyny, can intersect with other forms of oppression, like racism or ableism.

I am only pointing out the ableism part. Stop with the whole ableism shit, like seriously. It's stupid. You have no idea how shitty it is to be told our opinion doesn't matter just because we are better off physically and mentally than others. Stop it. Respect all the opinions tossed at you, whether the person is disabled or not.

*Trans people are amazing.

So are regular cisgeder people. Please don't leave us out either.

As of lately, I have noticed a disgusting trend of companies bending over to the wills of the fans to compromise their stories. 

An example would be this cover of Batgirl, where it shows her being held hostage by the Joker. The artists received many death threats for it, because it was Batgirl being portrayed being damaged by the Joker. Because of all the flack, they decided to move for a different cover. And yet here is a picture of Robin being beaten to death by the Joker, and no one said shit about it. 

I even hear that the company is doing everything it can just so that such an incident never happened. That Barbara Gordon was not sexually abused and physically broken by the Joker in the older comics.

Which makes me really angry. 

Why? Because it’s not fair to the character of Barbara Gordon. This was her struggle, this was a tragic thing that built her character throughout the series that transformed her into the all seeing Oracle. And even then, she was still kicking ass helping out Batman and can fight for herself I mean look at these! Look how fucking BAD ASS she is! And she’s PARALYZED!

The fans are making it sound like they can change how a story is written but that’s not fair, because everyone else cannot change their own story of tragedy no matter how hard they try. I understand if it’s the choice of the writers to completely reboot the story maybe because it wasn’t selling well or popular but ugh, I hate stories that are being rebooted because the fans demand for it.

You know what happens when stories get compromised due to demands of fans? 

The story starts to suck, and it doesn’t come out as a good story anymore. 

I also despise how fans feel so entitled to a particular show. 

Yes, I understand that this show is your number one fandom or whatever,

but that doesn’t mean you can get away with demanding shit from the author and from other fans.

And since some fans feel particular ownership over certain shows, I hate when they try to exclude others from enjoying it. Like I’ve heard of fans trying to shoo away people because of who they are, and claiming that the show was made for them like shut your trap and let other people enjoy the fucking show god DAMN. 

These are the same fuckers who think they can threaten people because of their freedom to interpret characters how they like.

Like seriously, if people wanna draw, write, cosplay their characters a different way, then stop being a bitch and let them draw, write and cosplay the character however they want. Don’t be bitchy just because you are probably shit at drawing or insecure bout your writing and insecure about your cosplay.

 Here, an example of a scandal where a fan artist was pushed to suicide due to harassment over an interpretation of a character. 

THAT TUMBLR THAT THREATENED THIS TEENAGE GIRL, @matriarchalmuffin IS STILL UP. AND THAT’S DISGUSTING PEOPLE. REPORT HER FOR HARRASSMENT. I KNOW I DID.

People need to remember why stories are stories, and not autobiographies.

These are meant to be stories about fictional characters and their fictional lives, and how these fictional characters proceed through their fictional world. If you wanted something that related to you, might as well have written a personal journal about your everyday life you can look back to. Because I look to shows, comics and games for stories of characters, not stories about myself.

If you relate to the show, then that means that the author carefully made sure that these characters were as human-like as possible, and it’s fine to be able to relate to them. 

Like for me, I have watched Zootopia recently and I can say that I relate a lot with Judy Hopps because we have a similar way of dealing with things. But that doesn’t mean I will be bitchy and say that Judy should have been an artist so that I could relate to her more. That shouldn’t be the case, because I know she is a fictional character with a human-like quality to her. She has her own struggles, and I love seeing her deal and battle with the different situations at hand. That doesn’t mean I want her to have dealt it in another way since I understand the kind of character she is.

If you want a story about yourself, go and make it yourself. Make the story of how oppressed you are, of how you live your life, how your weight affects you, whatever. 

Do it via comic, art, writing, game, whatever. Just don’t keep thinking you have the right to the stories these authors made for the enjoyment of everyone. Stop pushing people out for liking a certain story because of their gender and skin color. 

Now that I have your attention, it seems as of late that so called “fictionkins” have been running amock trying to be total asshats by doing shit like reblogging a piece of art of a character and saying;

“That’s me.”

And to you I say. No, it obviously fucking isn’t you because you are not a fucking fictional character. Let alone if that particular fiction character be an ORIGINAL work of an artist, or even characters from TV shows and others. If you were a fictional character, then how the fuck did you manifest in the real world and how sure are you that you are THIS particular fictional character??? Do YOU yourself have the same thought pattern as that particular character??? Did you only realize you were a fucking fictional character when you first saw it on TV or on the internet? Give me a break.

That also goes for all other kinds of kins out there like, seriously guys? You believe you’re some kind of animal in the wrong species??? Or some kind of historical figure??? Or whatever chalked up shit you got under your sleeves, I doubt any of you people actually PERFORM your respective mannerisms outside Tumblr or your room. There was a video of some Norwegian chick on Norwegian television saying how she is a cat and acts like a cat indoors. And yet whenever she is outside where people who DO NOT KNOW HER can see her, she is not doing her particular animal mannerisms. She is walking like a person, she is talking like a person, and she is dressing up like a person. So how are you a cat if you aren’t even acting like one outside your own fucking house?? That would entail to you knowing that the shit you doing WOULD LOOK CRAZY to people from the outside world.

Since Tumblr is so huge, and I struggle finding shit to pick and bitch at, it would be great if ya’ll can “contribute” by sending me things that you feel like need to addressed.

When I make rants, I usually make sure to research as much as possible into certain incidences so as to not look like a complete jackass like most of those people usually are... when they are defending something with nothing but their opinions.  So if you can leave me a message about issues you want me to address, I will most like address it.

Ok, so I just read the announcement that the casting for Hermoine is going to be a black woman. Why would you ask, am I so upset by it? Because this was most likely done to basically pander to the people of tumblr.

Because ya’ll interpret her as black. And they see it as a way to get ya’ll to eat it right up and to make ya’ll join the bandwagon.

To be quite honest, I wouldn’t have minded having a dark skinned Hermoine. IF she was dark skinned from day 1. Here is proof that Hermoine, from the perspective of the author, was dubbed to be fucking white.

These are OFFICIAL SKETCHES J.K. Rowling made when she was conceptualizing about these characters. You can even see that Dean Thomas is a different shade compared to the rest of the gang. If Hermoine was black, wouldn’t she have been a similar shade as Dean?

I can hear you screaming from the other side of your monitor now:

“You’re racist!”

“Hermoine never conformed to a race to begin with!”

“White privilege!”

“There isn’t enough representation in media so why can’t we just have this!?”

Well, to answer the last one, let me ask in retort. 

Why isn’t there an asian Harry Potter? Why isn’t there a black ginger Ron Weasely?

Why am I asking? Because I am a half.

I am half Filipino, half Scottish. You better check your fucking privilege before you talk shit about my skin color or my heritage.

I can bitch and say as a person who is of both Eastern and Western descent, that I am not represented in this book series! 

Why couldn’t Hermoine be asian? From the descriptions in the book, you could have actually seen her as a hardworking Filipina. Heck, Asian Hermoine could have made absolute sense because that is the kind of descriptions Asians would have! Are you telling me that only black people can have frizzy hair? 

Why couldn’t Hermoine be Indian? I know there are many people in the UK who are residences there, who ARE indian! I mean there is basically a MILLION Indian residences in the UK. There’s just as many Indians as there are black people! (Sorry, misinformation on the numbers. I knew there was something off about it.)

The Indians are being misrepresented, Hello!!!???!?!?!?!?! Do ya’ll not see the damn picture!!?!?!??!!??!!??!?!?

What is being represented here is the fact that because of you people who reside on tumblr, decide to interpret her as a completely different race shows that they are just using you as a way to pander and to make sure that they got your money. Honestly, if they had done like what Star Wars did, and casted COMPLETELY NEW CHARACTERS into the series, then that would have been fine and would have made complete sense! 

But at the end of the day, the author already imagined Hermoine as being WHITE. 

Otherwise, the illustrations would have been completely different and would make a whole lot of sense! Not only that, EVERYONE basically already established Hermoine as being white as seen in the movies since those were the basic VISUAL INTERPRETATIONS of these fictional characters! 

And people defending the choice saying about how Hermoine is a fictional character and has no race, then why do you bitch when someone decides to change a black character to a white character at their whim? 

You bitch when cosplayers who want to interpret their characters accurately by changing the color of their skin and call THE COSPLAYERS racist because you identify those fictional characters to have a race EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, AND LIKE YOU SAID, HAVE NO FUCKING RACE.

Also I will be articulating my thoughts a bit better here as this will be a little summary of what I am about, and what I’ll be tackling in

This post is meant to be just a general hello world kinda post, and to tell all the SJWs, Third Wave Feminists, and people who make up shit to get attention to, appropriately, check your fucking privilege. As of recently, fandoms and their toxicities are starting to reach outside tumblr, creating large issues. Not only that, misandry, man-hating feminists are starting to make an influence in today’s society which is propagating more bullshit and disgusting behavior on the internet and in the world. 

There is also people who feel, because they are “special snowflakes,” that they can tell people to go check their privileges because they are either white, straight, male users ( who had no choice of either their skin color or gender or history), or people who are against their ideals. Why? Because they feel like they have more validity and authority than the ones who happen to speak against them or think in a different way. They probably have SJW/PoC/LGBTQ privilege and abuses to get away with shit. These scum happen to go as far as threatening these people while also using derogatory terms in order to debunk and disprove the valid points brought up by them. 

And I believe it’s stupid. Because it’s completely against the causes they are fighting for which is equality, rights for all, and freedom of speech. I will be writing up posts daily to talk about issues that I feel need to be discussed about, and if you don’t like it, you can message me and we can have a nice discussion about why you are most likely a fucking idiot and need a slap in the face.
