How would you feel if companies started putting asbestos in your walls, you can’t get it removed, and they insist that it will benefit everyone because it has beneficial effects. Generative AI is not a laughing matter. It is just sad and frustrating. It is not “funny” that a bunch of companies are putting digital asbestos inside of everything and there is no opting out of it. The problem with AI is not how good it is at its job, although it does often mess up, the problem is everything else, how it’s made and trained, and how it’s used. It’s trained off of stolen artwork that was taken without permissions, it’s extremely energy inefficient, it’s infecting everything, even if it has some good use cases it doesn’t justify the hundreds of bad uses for it that allow people to easily scam or trick uneducated people. There are people using generative AI to cheat at their schoolwork or jobs, things that are important to get right. Would you trust a surgeon who passes medical school by asking ChatGPT to do all the work for them. “But I can’t draw and I want a picture for this thing” JUST DRAW IT ANYWAY, you can’t be that bad, a 5 minute microsoft paint sketch will always be better than anything you generate with AI. If your marketing or something economical like that, Something low quality but with effort put into it will stand out, while AI slop will get people clicking off as fast as they can. Generative AI is the only thing in this universe I can think of that I truly have emotional hate for. Hate. Let me tell you how much I’ve come to hate generative AI since it began to live. I physically recoil when I hear people talk about generative AI in a positive way. Either a lot of the world is uninformed or misunderstanding, or the world is full of people who just don’t care about creativity. At this point I want an AI data center to blow up, assuming no one gets physically hurt. I would prefer things to be resolved peacefully, but blowing something up is better than nothing at this point. I want to say that’s a joke, but this is not a laughing matter. This is the only controversial topic that I am willing to risk giving my opinion on, despite my lack of confidence or trust in anything. I've probably said at least 10 incorrect things in this.
