This novel was such a trip--both literally and metaphorically! It's been a long time since I read a book written in third person omniscient, and I really enjoyed being able to keep up with everyone's thoughts (even the animals'!). I love how the author presents all of the characters as full, flawed humans, and shows that everyone needs and deserves love. The book didn't shy away from the complexity of loving someone with alcoholism, or getting through trauma and grief, or the fragility of second chances. It's messy, and heartbreaking, and also so unbelievably funny and sweet. I fell in love with the people in this story, and will think about the messages in this book for years to come.
