Inktober 52 2022 - Week 12: "Break" Woo hoo! I'm finally up to date! Sweet. The original idea for this was a guy in a karate suit with an arm coming out of his mouth to break a board he was holding. I played around with it and couldn't get it looking quite right. I wasn't happy with how it was turning out so i abandoned it. I think it was a case of the idea being better than the execution to be honest. After doing some Google image searching for "break" I found a stock photo of someone snapping a pencil in half. And that's where this idea came from. Inktober 52 2022 - Week 11 I've got 1 more drawing to do after this one and I'll be finally up to date! Unfortunately my eldest son tested positive for Covid this morning, so my entire household has to isolate for 7 days now. As bad as that is, it means I now have a week of spare time on my hands, so I should get lots of drawings done. Silver linings and all right? So I should have the next drawing done tomorrow at this stage. I'm not sure why the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the prompt "lush" was a guy with some lush plants growing out of his head. I got to experiment a bit this week with some crazy text for "March Madness". I had a lot of fun doing the messy text, it was quite cathartic. So I've had a really rough few weeks, a lot of bad stuff has happened which I won't get into right now. But one thing that happened was where I live got pounded by rain that caused some crazy flooding. Some water leaked into my office and thankfully no major damage, except for the carpet. Because the carpet had to be ripped up, everything from my office is now scattered around the house until where the water came in can be fixed. Which means I don't have a proper workspace and all my art supplies are everywhere, which is why I haven't done an Inktober 52 drawings for a couple of weeks. I'm going to try and setup a temporary workspace soon so I can try and catch up before I fall too far behind. But in the meantime, I'm still doing signs at one of my jobs on Wednesdays, so you can see them at least! This is the best thing about this challenge, I think, is the fact you don't just get a normal word like "dog" or "cat", you get something really vague like "micro". This makes you really think outside the box and potentially drawn something different and new. This week I went for another "double", I drew a small "micro" creature singing into a microphone. Inktober 52 - 2022 Week 04: "Frog" I had way too many ideas for this week's prompt word "frog". All of them were either versions of frog characters or other complicated images. In the end, I just took a step back and realised I was over thinking it and just drew a cute cartoon tree frog on a branch. The whole time I was doing this I kept thinking of the old KISS, Keep It Simple Supid, mantra. A couple of times i went to go add more and complicate it, but I stopped myself and I'm glad I did. Inktober 52 - 2022 - Week 03: "Stripes" I had a few ideas for this week's prompt, there are a lot of things that have stripes after all. In the end I went with my favourite thing to draw: monsters/creatures. In this case one with stripy horns and wearing a stripy shirt and socks. Gotta say, really enjoying Inktober 52 so far. I'm back! I can now draw with my right hand again! It feels so good to draw with it after these last couple of months. In case you didn't know I injured the Ulnar nerve in my right arm at the end of last year. This year I've decided not to do the regular Inktober this October. I think it's too much for me at that time of year and I keep hurting myself, so I'm going to just give it a rest this year I think. Instead, I'm going to do Inktober 52! Which is only one prompt word a week for the whole year, a lot more relaxed and easier for me. It started a week late for some reason this year, but here is Week 1: "Wild". I drew a wild monster strutting out in the wild. Every new prompt word is released on Thursdays US time (which is Friday for me here in Australia) so I'll post them when I'm done during the week. I'm still taking it easy and trying not to draw too much at once as I'm afraid I'll hurt myself again.
