Happy Halloween!
(Spooky Month 7 teaser from a public Patreon post)
Hello Pelo! I have a question that suddenly dawned on me after waking up.
I don't know if this has been asked before, but do you think Skid and Pump would ironically be interested in CreepyPasta? I think any regular child would be interested in it. If so, which CreepyPasta character(s) would be their favorite?
They would interested in CreepyPasta for sure!!! They will probably get out of their way to imagine is real!! or play with the idea! and to be honest idk, The kids like anything scary1
Would love to be more active here but this blog is actually entirely separate from my main. As in. Different email. Have to log in and out to use this account. I was too scared of simply making this a sideblog because I am prone to slipping up and accidentally engaging with people from one of my sideblogs. Wanted it to be completely separate to avoid the possibility.
it’s necessary to fight back against adult content bans obviously because it leads to queer bans, but also, you cannot forget that we must fight back against these bans because adults have the right to make and enjoy adult content. no credit card company has the right to censor what we look at. yes, this includes the “problematic kinks” and stuff you think is gross and bad. just as we deserve to be openly queer online, we deserve to enjoy adult content without fear of total censorship, and it’s absurd how few places there are to do that online nowadays
couldn’t have said it better myself.
Not me distinctly remembering that DLDR was originally meant for GAY ships because homophobia in the 2000s was so bad that gay fics would get mass flamed if you didn’t put that disclaimer.
Used to be you'd join the biggest LiveJournal community for a fandom and you'd post your fic and if it was gay there would be people that not just actively ignored it but they'd rush to post literally anything to knock your post down far enough people 'wouldn't have to see it'. Then, if more than one person posted slash around the same time, within a few days the community would announce a new rule against slash [aka gay], because some people were complaining about you somewhere in locked posts with the mods. So then we would go make slash specific communities and the antis would try to join it to spy on us and talk shit and make lists of names to try to report, because they couldnt just let us do our own thing without 'bothering' them. Because we dared make things and read things that were gay, which they felt was an unforgivable crime for even existing. A lot of the best slash fic were on password-protected personal websites because no site would host it, so you had to get recs from other people and get in touch with the author and ask for the password and that they didn't think you were lying to gain access and get them in trouble.
And then, of course, strike-thru happened in 07.
I will be forever grateful to AO3 for existing and for doing what they do

Susie Wonder from Spooky Month is proship!
She's a teenage girl growing up in the early 2010s with a demon hyperfixation and passion for art, there is no way that girl isn't proship. I like to think she even has a sideblog where she posts art of her more "problematic" ships; her favorite dynamics are monster/human and slasher/final girl
anti: your ship is problematic it's literally abusive
proshipper: your ship is also problematic in a lot of ways that you don't realize
anti: actually, it's NOT a proship. it's just toxic yaoi...
proship culture is that intense fear of losing all your friends and fandom rep solely because of what you enjoy in fiction
☆
Uh- are you aware of the meaning of proship?
Proship has never meant anything except a combination of three ideas:
Ship and let ship (your ships don't harm me and vice-versa) and YKINMK (your kink is not my kink, and that's okay; my kink stories don't harm you and vice-versa)
Harassment over fiction is not acceptable
Censorship of fiction is not acceptable either
Any other definitions are made by antis, not proshippers, and are an attempt at revisionism to justify harassment based on false claims.
WAIT that’s what that means?? 😭😭
everyone always has a dni for proshippers I thought it was something freaky or fucked up 😭😭
Yeah. Antis like to claim that the "pro" means "problematic", but nope. "Pro" (for) is simply the opposite of "anti" (against), and all that "proship" really means is "Let everyone ship what they want, everyone mind their own business".
A healthy reminder.
Louder 📣📣 for those in the back
“Pro” means we’re in favor of shipping; proship literally means we’re in favor of shipping! Can we please get back to this definition.
Anyone who tells you anything different is looking for trouble.
🫶🏻
My problematic ship is media literacy/the general public and media literacy tops
#original OP is a liar i’m p sure proship has always been about shipping minors with adults and the shippers always pull this rhetoric to#defend it#otherwise it’s just called ‘shipping’ but pedos made up the whole ‘pro ship: we ship *anything* ****including minors and adults! so.#so i’m always wary of self defined ‘proshippers’#their whole thing was predicated on inflammatory internet harassment in retaliation to other shippers being disgusted at their behavior
Incorrect. We had shippers and then people started calling themselves "anti-shippers", and pro-ship and anti-anti arose to mean "not an anti-shipper". That's all it's ever meant. It means not being an anti-shipper. Anti-shippers are trying to redefine it as meaning "problematic shipper" in order to try to gain rhetorical high ground by trying to give the impression that anyone who's not an anti-shipper is specifically writing underage rape porn and selling it to child abusers or something, but that has never been the case.
Some proshippers write about underage ships. Some write about gay ships. Some write the kind of generic romance that you'll find in an average romcom, with one character being the other's boss. Some write ships that not even the most obsessive puritan antis could find a firm moral reason to object to. Some, like me, don't write about sex at all and tend not to write about romantic relationships very much either, but firmly hold the stance that others should be allowed to write those things if they want.
Do you despise underage sex scenes? Does the very concept of them make you throw up in your mouth a little? Me too! I find them fucking disgusting! You know what I do about it?
I... don't read them. I certainly don't participate in hate campaigns to threaten, doxx or suicide bait random authors for writing stuff I don't like. That doesn't achieve anything. That doesn't protect any children. All it is is an excuse to bully someone and tell yourself that it's okay to feel righteous and powerful about it because people Deserve It if they write the fictional story wrong.
Still really hating those posts that are like "not anti or proship but a secret third thing; an adult with a job" Like??? I'm sorry I had to be the one to tell you this, but most adults with jobs still care about people getting harassed until they kill themselves. 😭😭
Chiming in because as of late this is something that's been really bothering me.
The big problem is that the people who claim to be the Enlightened Neutral Party in pro/anti discourse:
Have been acquainted with the discourse for no more than three collective minutes, so they have no idea what it's about or what kind of behavior has been surging in frequency in the last decade or so --- and because of that, they are unable to process the real-world ramifications of these talking points becoming popular (parallels to real-world hate groups who push for censorship, for example)
Have been fortunate enough to not be harassed over their ships (or watch someone they care about be harassed) to the extent that others have been, if at all
Assuming we're talking about people who are clueless and not people who are antis who don't want to be loud and proud about it, they have no actual experiences to go off of when it comes to this debate, so to them it's just "online discourse". They believe there are no real-world consequences, being either willfully or unintentionally ignorant of the fact that people do get doxxed and stalked in real life over petty fandom morality bullshit.
No halfway decent person is going to watch somebody beat the tar out of another person, and when the person getting beat finally punches back, try to "both sides" the situation and insist they're both in the wrong because "it's just a stupid fight. Just stop fighting, idiots!" Meanwhile, the person who is getting beaten up on very much agrees! They would LOVE for the fight to stop! But they did not start the fight, and the person who did has no intention of stopping. The victim is blamed for the aggressor's refusal to stop being an aggressor.
Pro-ship and pro-fiction folks also think fandom discourse is fucking stupid! We agree! But as long as antis keep causing issues instead of just blocking shit they don't like, the pro/anti discourse is going to continue.
And again, all of this is caused by the fact that neutrals are either antis who won't admit it, or people who have not seen the full scope of the problem. They try to speak on the subject, trying to sound enlightened and "above it all", despite not knowing anything about it. They do not see, or pretend to not see, people being doxxed over ships. They do not see, or pretend not to see, cases like IAmLunaSol where artists are stalked IN REAL LIFE over fictional characters. They do not see, or pretend not to see, the people who have attempted and/or successfully committed suicide as a result of witch-hunts led by antis ever since the early days of modern fancop activity in the Steven Universe fandom.
TL;DR if you're "neutral", you're either an anti and trying to hide it, or you have no idea what you're talking about and should either take the time to talk to us to learn what's been going on, or you should keep your pseudo-philosophical faux-enlightenment to yourself.
Pro-ship and pro-fiction folks also think fandom discourse is fucking stupid! We agree! But as long as antis keep causing issues instead of just blocking shit they don't like, the pro/anti discourse is going to continue.

🔊🔊 END STAGE DISCOURSE!! END STAGE DISCOURSE!! WE HAVE ARRIVED AT "FICTIONAL SEX IS COERCIVE BECAUSE CHARACTERS ARE BEING FORCED TO DO THINGS BY THE AUTHOR"!!!! 🔊🔊
My favorite professor, shout out Glenn, would interrupt students who were saying "Well XYZ clearly felt--" and go "No, backtrack, scratch that. They are a character. Not a person. They don't have any thoughts other than what the writer clearly specifies on paper they have. Don't give agency to nonliving things, they are not real, they never were real, and it is dangerous to lose that line."
He was a sweet man and raised in the Midwest so interrupting people hurt his very soul, that's how dangerous he felt the idea of losing the line of fiction was.
He notably also taught a course called Bible in Lit which I took and those lines came back a lot.
Fandoms stopped being a fun escape from reality when people started spreading the belief that you should prioritize purity over pleasure and the art you create must be a reflection of your moral standards at all times.
