In short, automation only exists because of hierarchy (and money, but to have no hierarchy you'd need to have no money), therefore in a future with no hierarchy, it would be far less common. I suppose it would also depend on how distant this future would be and whether the cultural residue of capitalist hierarchy is still present.

Kind of both? I think the current capitalistic and patriarchal ways are so ingrained into how we function as a society that we need to start over, but I also think that in starting over, we need to connect more to our roots as social animals and take care of eachother like we did before the days of monetary incentives. It's human nature to protect and care for the vulnerable and capitalism has taught us that they have no inherent value. I also think things should be run in such a way we don't destroy our earth for a profit and instead coexist with animals and nature in the way they already do with one another, of course not entirely peaceful because we are also part of nature and we are predator animals that (mostly) consume meat, that kinda ties into the whole anti capitalism thing. If that makes sense.
