And then comes those rare days where you feel the weight of some hollowness in your heart. You have no clue where exactly it’s coming from, just that it’s something you thought was long healed and forgotten. But oh well, how wrong you were. The traces are still there, creeping back subtly when the noise of the quiet gets too loud. And all you can do is sit there holding your breath, praying for it to pass.

Whoever romanticized the heart as the only bearer of sadness never really loved, because there’s no way your appetite stayed normal, your stomach kept food in, your head didn’t ache, your eyes weren’t heavy, and your body didn’t go through cycles of fever and cold.
