I think a big issue is just that her intention often comes up against her fetishes, and her fetishes tend to often win. At least with her older comics like The Doctor Pepper Show, they were pretty explicitly fetish comics, so the rules of engagement were pretty clear - 'don't read this comic expecting it to be a thesis on women empowerment.'

But with works like LO, those rules weren't so clear as it was consistently being marketed as a "feminist retelling" while constantly being plagued by fetish preferences and rhetoric. It's trying to convince people that the comic is meant to be a platform highlighting women's voices and struggles, but then when that intent is held under any amount of scrutiny, both the comic and its fans turn around and claim "yeah well it's just a fun comic! it's not that deep!!! you just hate female creators!!"

Persephone isn't 'forever 19' to make a point about a predatory patriarchal system, she's 19 because Rachel evidently has preferences for depicting young girls at the peak of puberty with perky breasts and large hips. Hades isn't a powerful and rich "grown ass man" because the comic has any point to make about how men in power abuse it for their own gain, he's a powerful and rich grown ass man because that's the template Rachel's used repeatedly for her fetish works, in which young vulnerable women are at the mercy of men in power.

Ironically, LO does showcase these points at times, but it's in other characters outside of the central couple, oftentimes characters who are completely sidelined in favor of giving us more tradwife roleplay in that of Hades and Persephone.

Minthe is a perfect example of this, while Persephone is often being highlighted as the 'perfect victim', Minthe is the imperfect victim and thus gets shamed for it and treated by both the narrative and the readers as if she too hasn't been harmed by the patriarchal system she co-exists within alongside Persephone.

I'm not mad Rachel likes drawing heterosexual couples or certain body types that suit her preferences, I'm just mad she can't seem to showcase the female experience separately from that of a male participant, to the point that the woman's strength and identity is inherently tied to her partner in such a way that to separate them would be to rob her of that strength. And that strength still can't exist without being in service of a man's perspective.

Most of all, I'm mad that she never learned how to analyze - much less portray - the divide between indulging a fetish and having progressive discussion about sexual health in relation to the patriarchy.

It goes without saying that those two things often struggle to co-exist because a lot of people don't want to admit that their fetishes were inherently created by a patriarchal system and thus can't entirely be separated from victimization of women and young girls, not without speaking over those victims or sexualizing them and their experiences for our own pleasure.
