i think my favorite thing about any media i consume is the first blood that gets spilled. especially if it’s something that starts out lighthearted and hopeful.

like, for Trigun Stampede, the first bit of blood you actually see is some splatter from a man that lands on Vash’s face in episode 3, right after that man sacrificed himself.

in Demon Slayer, the first blood you actually see is the blood of Tanjiro’s family— absolutely fucking everywhere.

i think it really sets a tone for the rest of the conflict in the show, and the main character’s reaction to and interaction with it can be very important. visually, as well, it’s very striking; it tells the viewer “oh damn, shit’s going down now.”
