I'm NB, Ace/Aro-Spec, and Autistic, and yes all of that comes up a lot in my writing
I almost exclusively write spec fic, mostly fantasy, horror, and fantasy-horror.
I write a lot of middle grade, but I also work in adult fiction as well.
I enjoy writing weird stories with humor and heart, strange characters, and lots of subverting/playing with various tropes.
Most of my works include body horror and/or emotional abuse as a theme, so be aware of that.
I'm down for following/supporting any fellow middle grade writers! I'm also interested in following fellow horror, fantasy, or weird fiction writers, and I'm especially drawn to stories written in a unique and/or unconventional format.
That being said, romance/erotica is not my scene. I support y'all from a distance, though.

However, life at Aberrant is truly deadly, and Ismael will have to befriend allies and steel their nerves if they want a chance at surviving.

Status: Shelved Until Further Notice (though I do want to go back to it someday!)
Rose, Vermil, and Crim Swann are triplets who have never seen the outside world. Supposedly, it's for their own safety: their family harvests potion ingredients out of magical creatures after all, and several powerful forces therefore have a grudge against them. But when that danger thrusts them out into the real world, they'll have to confront what truths they were really being shielded from...
Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy/Horror
Includes: Themes of familial abuse, dark fairytale-inspired world, fairytale reimaginings, swan maidens, crime family activities, bloody deaths, gruesome fates, family secrets, limited verbal autistic character (Vermil), finding yourself, everybody's got grey morality.
Montgomery Leonidas Fulbright is top dog at the prestigious Iverknox Academy of the Arcane-- or at least, he was. When his usually flawless magic ability fails catastrophically, he's expelled and sent to study at the local underfunded magic public school instead, under the reluctant aid of its top student, Penelope Plum. However, the two soon realize that Monty is not alone in his predicament, and must ban together to find the cause before everyone's magic is on the fritz.
Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy/Humor
Includes: Themes of identity versus expectations, magic academy parody, magic in a modern setting, the pressure cooker that is school, gifted kid syndrome, jerk kid redemption arc, a kid who talks to rats, evil stress monsters, dodgeball on flying brooms.

It's such an amazing feeling when someone picks up on something in your writing that you 100% intended but didn't think people would notice. Like, YES!! My writing properly conveyed the thing it was supposed to!!! You are so awesome for noticing that!!! I am so awesome for writing that!!! I feel so good about my story now!!!!
Text: Depending on how you die inside, the forest will deconstruct your body for usable parts. It's making things for reasons we don't understand, trees with beating hearts, and shambling sort-of people.
Actually, my therapist has told me this is a healthy way of processing things. Because you can get the trauma out of your head And you can write the ending you wish it had. The trusted person rescue, the catharsis of getting to kill the one who hurt you.
It's good for your brain. It's healthier than bottling it up. Fiction is where we go for emotional release. That can be true with trauma too.
Adding @dear-massacre's tags because they are so true:
#this is why it's important to remember that fictional characters are fake #they have no agency. they're made up #it hurts no one to make any character go through the horrors #it is healthy and cathartic

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
as a writer you will have a specific deck of vocab words you like using a lot and when you read other peoples' work you will see a very clear spread of different vocab words on their end. this is why you need to read, to collect other writers' words like it's a card game
you have to be careful reading too many things that are good/smart/well-written bc then you encounter something that isnt and you get confused like ? why didnt they just make this good ? were they stupid

An important part of fighting against AI is to engage with artwork that can't be made by AI. Sing with friends, go to live concerts, make handcrafts, see a live theater show. It sucks that there are certain artforms--digital art, writing, recorded music--that can be easily faked by a machine, but there are still artforms that you can know aren't from a machine because the people are right there in the room with you. It's imperfect, it's amateur, it'll never get a huge audience, but it's also local and personal, and that's something beautiful that's much harder to corrupt with machines.
For about a year now this news has been officially [redacted], but now it's free. My debut YA novel, BORDERLINE, was acquired by Union Square Kids, an imprint of Hatchette Book Group, and is scheduled to hit shelves next summer 2027. Also they mentioned my blog in the official announcement, as you can see, which is hilarious. Anyway.
I'm really excited to have a book out in the world soon! BORDERLINE was actually kind of built by the blog, considering my beta readers were all followers who volunteered. (Beta readers: expect a separate email). So many people have been so kind about my work here, my future work, and this whole process, so THANK YOU, first and foremost.
If you've liked what I do here, it would mean the world to me to have your continued support! Tell your online friends, tell your real life friends, tell your library, etc etc! My instagram will shortly be transforming into an author page, so if the mood strikes you, please give me a follow @lilia.vc ! This alone would be an enormous, enormous help.
Finally, if you have any questions please send them my way! Thanks again, keep writing, and as always, stay weird.

Gonna do Tristan and Lenore! (Not including all 13 siblings because that would be....a lot.)
Who looks the most like Dad?
Lenore! She's got straight blonde hair and her facial features also resemble their dad's.
Who looks the most like Mom?
Tristan! He's got her wavy black hair, pale skin, and delicate features.
Who eats the most?
Probably Lenore overall, but it's not a big difference. Because Tristan is sickly he doesn't eat much. Although Lenore is probably envious of Tristan's room nearly always having trays of dainty treats in it for Tristan to snack on so he eats something.
Who has been in the weirdest situations?
Tristan undoubtedly, even before the whole "summoning a demon" thing. Tristan is subjected to various medical treatments his whole childhood, some of which are experimental and/or bizarre.
Who sleeps the most?
Tristan, due to being sick and all. When he was younger he spent most of his time in bed. This changes as Tristan gets older, however, and by the time Tristan is 12 he's staying up much of the night. When he leaves home he sleeps hardly at all. At which point Lenore sleeps the most.
Most stable romantic life?
Since Tristan is 12 and Lenore is 14, they don't really have that yet. What "romantic life" they have is pretty uniformly unstable, as it consists wholly of unrequited crushes on older teens.
Worst habit of each one?
Lenore: internalizing her family's views of her and trying to please them.
Tristan: hard to say what his absolute worst habit is lol. Probably treating others as if they are less human than him. Which leads to a lot of his awful behaviors. That and tasting food and putting it back with a bite out of it.
Who's the most dramatic?
Tristan, by a long shot.
Who had a weird phase?
Tristan's whole life so far has been a "weird phase".
Best cook in the family?
Neither of them know how! They've been cooked for by servants their whole lives.
Best memory together?
Hmm I'm thinking possibly when Tristan was learning to walk, Lenore was helping him. (Because of his health issues he learns to walk really late, like around 5 years old. It was thought he couldn't walk.) If I decide that is the case, I can see the moment they reveal Tristan can walk to the others as being a precious memory for both of them. They had very little time together, though, so most of these memories are likely important to them! I feel like they remember fondly things like reading to each other, jumping on Tristan's bed, hiding from staff/parents, and playing with dolls (probably originally Lenore's and then Tristan demanded his own).
I can also totally imagine Lenore pulling him around like this before he could walk. Inside of course.
Worst memory together?
Probably when they were separated. Tristan took a turn for the worse one day while they were playing and Lenore was blamed, and made to feel she selfishly pushed him too hard; that if he died it would be her fault. She felt extremely guilty and they were forbidden from playing together as they used to.
Dream trip together?
Anywhere, really! Before Tristan runs away, he never goes as far as the front lawn. :( Lenore would love to bring him places though, such as the village nearby or the local fair or market. She'd love to bring him sea bathing as well; she loves it herself and wonders if he wouldn't benefit from the salt water.
Would they rather not being able to shower for a month or have the same clothes for a month?
They'd both be just fine not showering because they've never showered! In fact Lenore has only bathed rarely. Tristan has bathed more for medical reasons. They mostly have washed themselves with a washcloth, like most people of the time. So both of them would rather that than wear the same clothes for a month. Tristan especially because he might shrivel and die if he couldn't change outfits on a whim.
Who's the oldest?
Of the two of them, Lenore! She's two years older.
How would they describe each other in three words?
Tristan on Lenore: Good, fair[her coloring], cheerful
Lenore on Tristan: Melancholic, small, bright [intellectually]
How do they feel about their parents?
Lenore loves their parents and wishes to please them (and tries very hard to) but struggles with their emotional neglect/distance/coldness, which they have toward all their children, not just Tristan. She is nevertheless obedient, although she often accidentally fumbles accepted behavior due to her innocent assumptions. For a lot of the mistakes she blames herself; she has been taught that her elders know best and to obey unquestioningly. However, for some, and increasingly as she gets older, she protests and questions why, for example, Tristan must be kept so separate. She has her own mini-arc where she begins to form her own convictions and distrusts her parents' guidance/control.
Tristan, surprisingly, doesn't hate his parents. He feels very separate from them, as he spends even less time with them than his siblings do. Almost all resentment he feels towards his parents and family for ignoring him is directed towards the staff, who are actually constantly around him. He thinks of his parents as very refined and elegant people who provide him with practically whatever he wants as long as he asks for it through a servant, and who nevertheless unjustly lock him away. They are the rulers of his life from afar. He thinks of them as small minded in the sense that they follow the narrow conventions of society, and the advice of doctors he sees as quacks. Nevertheless he somewhat looks up to them, especially his mother, for their knowledge of fashion and culture, their worldliness, their gentility. As their child who is pushed to the margins of the family, he yearns to emulate them, to feel like one of them. As he gets older he realizes he cannot appeal to them to change his circumstances, and doesn't try (instead he plots to run away). Their neglect hurts him deeply, but unfortunately makes him come to the conclusion that there must be something inherently wrong with him. Unlike Lenore, though, this comes paired with the idea that this is far more interesting than being normal.
Who usually has the worst ideas?
Tristan. Duh. Lenore would never think "I should conjure a demon..." (although if she did I'd be goodforher.gif)
A GIANT insect is on the wall. Who's taking care of it?
Realistically, they're making a servant do it lol. But, say there's no servant available..
Lenore, despite probably being disgusted by it, would likely feel she must do it as the big sister of her sickly kid brother. (Yes he's only two years younger but in child years he's her "little" sibling.) She'd be screaming the whole time though.
