getting fixated on something is funny because the first like week i have an insatiable need to tell everyone i know about it and spread the good word but by weeks 2 and 3 it becomes so intense and personal that even hearing it mentioned in public makes me sweat as if a dark secret was alluded to
Don't worry, mutual with a zero-note post. I've added your post to my queue. So, in 6-8 business weeks, we're going to do big numbers! Such as, 1.
an AI tell no one talks about (okay maybe they do I just haven't seen it) is an abundance of line breaks. for some reason, generative AI doesn't like paragraphs, and everything is split into a ton of unnatural single sentences. case in point
please send me comments on tumblr posts where people overshare damning evidence unbidden. like you know this type of oversharing
"I hate female characters. because i was Abused. by My Mom."
"so I can't hate black people even though one bullied me for no reason in 2nd grade? i have trauma"
"i used to be an incel on 4chan hahaha crazy phase we all go through!"
also open to private messages from people you just met who immediately started traumadumping on you because that's happened to me multiple times on this site

“You best be bashed around the bush once or twice // Before you get to taste the finer life.”
dany!!! 💖💗💖🧚🏻♂️
i love your prose and the way you craft your stories. ive always been curious to learn if there were any particular books or authors that you found to have inspired your writing. are there any you found to be influential?
hi Naomi!! 🧙♀️ thank you for the lovely question.
my number one inspiration will always be Ray Bradbury. these days I don't seek out any male authors not already known to and liked by me, so this is high praise coming from me. he writes in such a succinct way, low on metaphor but still high on symbolism and theme; I have definitely developed my own style with him as a guide.
two authors I discovered over the past few years who have styles similar to mine and who now inspire me are Eve Babitz and Margaret Millar. again, I favor straightforward styles regardless of genre (I wouldn't say he influences my style, but GRRM writes this way too) and they both write that way. Millar wrote noir and Babitz wrote autofiction and they couldn't be more different in general, but I find inspiration in both as to the stark concept of their prose. when the occasional Millar metaphor hits, it lands.
I've only read her nonfiction, but Ursula K. Le Guin's essays have been very helpful for me in multiple facets of life but especially my fantasy work. it encourages me to remember that I know what I want to write and need to get it out there, not worry about convention or audience or deep analysis after the fact or the underlying message. this isn't really about my prose I just thought I'd share.

enjoy over an hour of modern and early electronic music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, featuring selections from the BBC radiophonic workshop and raymond scott, the father of electronic music.
i was inspired by UPA animation and illustrated science manuals from the 50s and 60s for the cover. you can listen to young archimedes on spotify or youtube!
