zane was lowkey trying to kill cleo at the beginning of season one. first he let her drift out to sea in the zodiac, almost ran her over with his dirtbike, then threw her in a pool. mind you at this point SHE COULDN’T SWIM.

the older i get the more i cannot stand cleo's parents. they both suck. get cleo and kim some good adults in their lives because tf?

I love that Lewis a nerd, but he's a confident nerd. I think a lot of nerdy, geeky characters (especially male characters who aren't typically masculine) end up also being portrayed as shy or insecure, or they let themselves get pushed around. But Lewis isn't like that, from the jump. Season 1, Episode 1 he doesn't hesitate to roast Zane ("you think you're better than me?" "almost everyone is better than you. live with it.") and in Episode 2 he gives Rikki's snark right back to her ("Have you considered she just doesn't like you?" "That did cross my mind, but then I thought, oh no, she hangs around with you. Her standards must be pretty low."). But it's not just that. He never lets anyone make fun of him for his interests in science or in fishing. He is unbothered by Miriam questioning him bringing his fishing gear to her party, he actually owns it! And this carries all the way through season 3, like when Will says he's weird and he says "I know, I am seeing someone, but there's no cure"--he knows he's weird. He knows he's not stereotypically masculine. He knows he isn't for everyone. He knows who he is, what he is passionate about, and he won't apologize for it, and I love that about him.

it's crazy how absolutely flat Bella and Will are together. a free diver who loves the sea and a mermaid? the whole idea of them both being so used to not being in any one place long enough to put down roots? on paper it's a slam dunk. but they have no chemistry. especially compared to clewis or zikki? i am falling asleep. yawn. even emma and ash had better chemistry!

I hate how Will is barely interested in Bella until he finds out she's a mermaid. Like, it really feels like he doesn't care about her as a person at all. When he says, "But you've gotta admit, it is the most amazing part" after Bella says being a mermaid isn't all she is?? Actually get out of my sight. Remember when Lewis said "you're amazing, you can do anything [...] I didn't mean the powers" and Zane said "yes, I know, and no I don't care" --even ZANE, who was obsessed with finding his mermaid, was able to see past it and love Rikki for who she is and not what she is.

If we're being honest here I do think Dr. Denman is being predatory towards Lewis. Like idk man here's this young teenager who really wants to impress her and she knows it and she takes advantage of it and it just!!! it gives me the ick.

no 1000%. she utilized her position of power (as a very successful marine biologist, not to mention as his boss) over him to manipulate him. and imo she definitely took advantage of his ‘crush’ on her. what leads me to feel this way is mainly the scene where she asks lewis to unzip her wetsuit. i KNOW an experienced marine biologist like yourself is capable of taking a wetsuit off on your own.

I'll never understand why everyone is out here acting like cleo doesn't look fantastic in her portuguese man o' war costume. first of all how can they not tell she's a jellyfish, it is SO clear?? second of all, she literally looks ethereal in purple (the eyeshadow???). third of all, the costume actually looks like a specific species of sea creature which is SO COOL, and importantly actually shows a true passion for marine life. how did the girl dressed as a generic ass starfish get a better reception this is BULLSHIT. cleo haters square up.
