Thinking a lot about Annie Ward right now and just. how amazing she is as an introduction from a ghost perspective. The first book on a whole is so perfect to me because it’s so tight and well-contained, and so much of that is because of her. She’s so powerful and the story does reiterate that but because she’s the first ghost you initially have no frame of reference of how strong she is. Like I always get so hung up on the fact that she moved the chains. And it was like. dusk when she did that if I remember correctly. Is there any other ghost who can do that. She’s so neat that looking back on her after reading the whole series it almost makes you appreciate her even more. Like comparing her to the intro ghosts in the rest of the series the only one that maaaaaybe holds a candle to her in terms of just psychic power is the Lavender Lodge ghost. The Wraiths were only a problem because there were so many of them Guppy’s power comes from just how unsettling he is, and La Belle Dame’s is her mental influence. Annie Ward is just sheer rage so strong she’s one of the strongest Type 2s in the series and I love her for that.
