i think one of the main reasons so many people (specifically on tiktok) are so against jax being a trans woman really comes down to the fact that people aren't used to trans characters like her.

When people hear the words "trans character" the first thing that almost always comes to mind is a character who is either in a glass closet or one that's already socially/visibly transitioned.

Jax isn't either of these, she's someone deep enough in the closet that it affects her in ways we don't see in media a lot. Something that many people fail to realize is that Jax's personality doesn't come from just misogyny and hatred, Jax is a victim of emotional incest and parental abuse. She's a flawed, tragic character who took out her pain on others and never got to accept herself for who she was. People aren't used to that.

The show is really good at exploring what it means to be trapped in your own mind and what happens when you isolate yourself instead of searching for community .

Jax is consumed by her own intrusive thoughts and internalized misoginy and still,

TADC gives us hope, letting us see a different version of Jax (Lee) get a second chance in the real world.

I liked the finale, it really conveys the message that besides the abuse, the trauma, the hurt you’ve caused and endured, it’s ultimately your choice to let yourself go or let yourself be vulnerable with other people, change your ways and be a better person.
