Being polykin is fun
Not always ofc, it is frustrating a lot of times
But i enjoy seeing how the features of drastically different kintypes mix and present, like when i have both cheetah and monkey shifts, and i end up feeling like a weird little hybrid with monkey limbs and and a kitty tail and whiskers that purrs
Or just how fast i can go from a chimp to a gibbon and then all the sudden im a mechanical thing and im thinking about all my wires and motors, and i just have to roll with it, its very amusing
Some times i forget im something and i get all confused on why i feel like i have hooves and im walking funny, and then i remember- oh yeah, im a horse and i giggle to myself about it because its silly

Ninjas don’t wear black. They used to disguise themselves as civilians. Unlike ninjas in movies, the real guys were smart enough to know that wearing a black outfit with a face mask wasn’t the best strategy for blending in. Source
But this leaves out the really neat part! The reason we equate the above image with a ninja comes from Kabuki theatre. Within Kabuki theatre there’s a convention of having Kuroko (stage hands) dress in all black (with a full face covering) and move around among the costumed actors in full view, moving scenery, props and costumes. In a similar way, Bunraku puppeteers dress in all black, and only the lead puppeteer’s face would be uncovered. The audience knew to ignore these people and focus on the actors, and to only see that the scene was “magically” changing. So when a play called for a ninja assassin to jump out of nowhere and kill someone, the easiest way to create the surprise reveal was to disguise the ninja in the all black garb of the Kuroko and to remove the face covering and start acting at the last second. This would shock the audience, who were conditioned to not focus on them. Pretty cool, yeah?
WHAT THE FUCK I THOUGHT “STAGE NINJA” WAS JUST A CUTE THEATER TERM FOR CREW. THERE WERE LITERALLY GOD DAMN STAGE NINJAS
AS A FORMER STAGE NINJA I CAN CONFIRM THIS IS BOTH A THING AND AWESOME.
the mosque in the village of larabanga, ghana. there's some differing theories over when exactly the mosque was built and by who, but it's thought to date back to 1421. this makes it the oldest in west africa.
one common story of its founding goes that it was built by a muslim trader named ayuba, who had a dream instructing him to build a mosque. when he awoke, he found the foundations were already laid, and he built the rest. his remains are thought to be buried under the baobab tree nearby.
the mosque is built in the sudanese architecture style, one of a few similar styles associated with grassland regions in west africa south of the sahara desert. the wood jutting out of the walls are support beams.

What happened in #Sudan during the past 24 hours?
The Rapid Support militia enters the cities of Hasahisa and Fadasi
Sudanese army aircraft launch air strikes on Rapid Support militia positions in the vicinity of the General Command in Khartoum.
A complete outage of all networks within the city of Sennar, but the situation remains calm and there is only a state of panic and tension in the faces of citizens as the state of displacement to and from the state continues.
There is a huge sum of money seized by the Rapid Support militia in the city of Wad Madani. It was looted from merchants, banks, and companies, and they claim that it belongs to the remnants of the previous regime.
Closing the main Corniche Street in Port Sudan for security reasons

#Palestine: Fadi Abu Salah was 29 years old. First, they took his land, then they took his legs, yesterday they took his life!
Funny that transphobes talk abt trans men like “dont be surprised when the testosterone doesn’t turn you to an anime twink” meanwhile half the trans guys I know are in an active race to become the hairiest man in the world gripping our T bottles like “please I need to be a bear it’s important”
Some people have to understand that “land back” isn’t just “uhhh the colonizers stop being mean to the people being slaughtered by them”. Land back means land BACK. As in the land goes back to the people who lived there before it was taken from them by force. Land back is NOT “the fighting stops but the colonizers get to keep all the land”, it’s “the native people get their land back”. If you don’t support the native people of an area getting their land back, if you expect them to be happy living as a minority in their own land, or living under apartheid and peril in their own land, or not being allowed to live in their own land, then you don’t believe in land back.
Like, it’s right there in the name! The colonizers just give the land back to the people they took it from. That’s land back! So don’t say you support land back while also saying that the colonizers deserve the stolen land.
What would a land back program look like, in practice? Would the government buy empty houses and give them for free/cheap to natives? Would unoccupied natural land be given back? Would people living in homes on occupied land have their houses bought by the government and sold to natives? Not trying to be combative, I'm genuinely wondering, since I haven't seen any physical descriptions of what giving the land back would entail.
Government would be given to indigenous people, everything about the land and what happens on it is decided by the people of that land. No your houses would not be sold, because we believe in SHARING THE LAND. We would just be the ones taking care of it and deciding what happens when it comes to things like development. An indigenous owned North America would be paradise. Land back is more than just housing, it’s about giving the entire land back to those who are meant to be taking care of it.
Changing of institution names, stopping of land damaging development, more focus on indigenous struggles, CLEAN WATER TO RESERVES, more indigenous languages being taught and spoken, different bands and nations would have say over what happens on their land, and would communicate with other bands and nations.
I also believe in a disintegration of borders or going back to more traditional territory style because borders were made by colonizers and do very little beyond harming and trapping people
There wouldn’t be “occupied land” and thinking of it like that is WEIRD. We would be the caretakers and overseers of the land making sure everything is done in a good way but we have no intention of kicking out or harming people who want to exist on our land, because in reality nobody can “own” land in our beliefs. Simply exist on and take care of the land is all us mortals can do. Land back means handing that caretaking back to the indigenous people

In fairness to King Kong, if I had a tiny adorable primate in my hand I would also be very resistant to someone taking it away from me.
We all assume it was romantic, but maybe when King Kong looked at her he was seeing this:
Something like this really happened a couple of years ago at the Mefou Primate Sanctuary in Cameroon, run by Ape Action Africa (AAA). A western lowland gorilla named Bobo befriended a bushbaby for a couple of hours before releasing it back into the forest.
(Source)
According to AAA’s Facebook post (where you can also find additional photos and video):
Our silverback gorilla Bobo made a surprising new friend this week – a wild bushbaby! Caregivers discovered him cradling the tiny primate during their morning checks, and were amazed to see him handling it with the utmost care – proving that gorillas really are the gentle giants of the forest. Bobo’s group-mates were desperately curious, particularly his favourite female Avishag, but he kept them all at a distance, making sure that no one disturbed his new friend. Bushbabies are usually nocturnal so it is very rare to see one, and even rarer to witness this kind of interaction. The little bushbaby was happy to play in Bobo’s arms, hopping off to explore the grass nearby, before returning to Bobo’s hand. When the game was over, Bobo walked purposefully off on two legs to deliver his friend safely back into the trees.
Incidentally, the western lowland gorilla (which has the best species name of all time: Gorilla gorilla gorilla) is the largest primate in Cameroon, and the bushbabies happen to be the smallest primates in Cameroon.

when i hear what i assume are well-intentioned people seeing posts about gazan christians and responding 'so it would be ok if they weren't christian??' i need them to understand that, no, they aren't given Special Attention because of their christianity but because they are in literal danger of being wiped out. an entire historic and unique and irreplaceable culture could just be gone (because, no, palestinian christian culture isn't interchangeable with your average western church) and while of course human lives remain the most important thing, loss of history and culture is undeniably part of the genocide and must be mourned as well

The Christian population of Gaza is now something like ~1000 people. Given Israel's average, the whole population can be wiped out in 2-3 attacks.
Obviously this isn't a solid prediction but can you imagine?
My husband's extended family is part of this 1000. They are the only branch of the family that has been living in Gaza. Can you imagine that their presence can be totally obliterated?
A whole Palestinian ethnic group, the oldest Christians in the world, with its people, churches, culture and traditions - all can be disappeared in no time? And then we will tell our kids "there used to be..."?
And then you have Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem claiming, on air, that there are no Christians or churches in Gaza "because they were driven out by Hamas"
This is in response to two Palestinian Christian women in Gaza getting shot and killed by an Israeli sniper inside the church.
Every Zionist accusation is a confession.
Saying that you don’t need to care about Palestine because you/your ancestors have some sort of background of oppression that many people are not well informed about and because the general population does not spend their time advocating for your people, you don’t need to advocate for Palestine or learn about its history with Israel is what makes you part of the problem and is the reason modern day genocide are able to happen and be facilitated for so long
This can be about a multitude of things but is specifically about Taika Waititi saying he shouldn’t be expected to know or care about Palestine because most people don’t know about Māori struggles
There's some beautiful Māori hakas for Palestine that I keep coming across online: 1, 2.
Taika Waititi is making excuses for his silence after he openly supported the occupation and co-signed its violence towards us (he was one of the people who signed the letter agreeing with Biden's response of endorsing collective punishment and genocide). Meanwhile the people he's pretending to ignore us for are standing with us. He's made his choice, now he's trying to backpedal on it.
