It's a slow day in the gallery, might as well do some stitching on my spine. Surprisingly, the image I choose to post is the inside of the piece.

(That inspired me)
I had taken this photo in a Chicago museum; the Museum of Surgical Science. Before I found this exhibit, I had found myself looking deeply into the empty eye sockets of an unknown skull for minutes and minutes. I was visiting this museum because I had dragged my chemistry-major-genius-sister to the Chicago Art Museum. Although, I still loved the surgical museum as well. I stumbled upon a Rembrandt, and I knew it was just a copy when other left-brained-scientists in the room were questioning it in conversation. I mean, you really think ‘The Anatomy Lesson of Nicolaes Tulp’ would be in here?
This was the day I realized I needed to create “morbid” art. Morbid, but beautiful, perhaps. Sadly, I do not know who the artist is for the sculpture, but it was at the MSS of Chicago. But, thank you, whoever you are. It’s the weird artists like you who don’t listen to the close-minded spectators in the galleries viewing their work who fuel my knowledge. This is the first post for my blog, where I will share my art, inspirations, and photoshoots. My medium is Fibers, and I am currently doing research to include taxidermy as well. Bugs, bats, skulls, snakes... in a humane way, of course. I want to explain my comfort with death, as well as my comfort with the human body.
