So anyway

In my town there is only 1 bar that has wheelchair access and guess what?! It’s not the gay bar!

Gay bars are also not accessible (the vast majority of the time) to those who are sensitive to bright lights and loud sounds. Example; some people with epilepsy, autism, PTSD, Tourettes, social anxiety, ect.

The pride march I went to last year would not be accessible (reasonably) for someone in a wheelchair or let’s be real, anyone who can’t walk for an hour +. 

The local LGBT+ group I meet up at tries to be accessible but often forgets that if a location has to be changed then the same level of access will almost certainly not apply to the new location.

The LGBT+ friendly bookshop I visited while overseas had a tiny door which barely fit my small wheelchair. There was also a step halfway through the store which meant I only got to view half of the books that were aimed at me. 

A lot of LGBT+ resources online are not set out in a way that people with visual or learning disabilities can easily read, or read at all. 

The LGBT+ community as a whole (not just the disabled members)  need to make a conscious effort to include disabled people where-ever and whenever possible. 

We are just as much a part of the community as abled body/minded people. 

Can we stop using “hetero-/homo-/bi-romantic” as hip microlabels that artificially complicate attraction and encourage internalized homophobia? And stop making up new unnecessarily-specific labels inspired them when they have 0 practical use outside of the context of asexuality?

Romantic labels were never intended to indicate anything like a separate type of orientation. Some asexuals back in the day just didn’t want to associate themselves with the ‘-sexual’ suffix of their orientation and used ‘-romantic’ instead. e.g.: “Biromantic” just means “bisexuality as experienced by an asexual”. That’s it. Sexual orientation labels are already sufficient to describe all types of nonsexual intimate attraction; pedantic asexuals just renamed them to clarify that their personal experience of intimate attraction did not include sex. “Romantic orientations” describe the exact same feelings as their respective sexual orientations, minus the sexual attraction.

- she did not hurt anyone, she leaked information in the public interest

- even if you disagree with what she did, there is no possible way she can do it again

- she was sentenced to 35 years, longer than anyone convicted of similar crimes

- she has already served six years, longer than anyone convicted of similar crimes

- she is being held in a men’s prison

- she was held in solitary confinement, which is considered psychological torture, for almost a year

- she was put in solitary confinement again this year for attempting suicide

- she has attempted suicide twice this year and may not survive her sentence

- she has spent her time in prison attempting to help other people

- she needs to be released while Obama is in office

- this is not a change.org petition, this is a whitehouse.gov petition, which the government has to respond to if it gets enough signatures

- it needs 49,000 more signatures in six days
